'The Village of the Damned' 1960 original.
Good call, I've not seen that on TV in decades.Randy Winkman said:
Odd thing is that I read the book a little while ago and was disappointed in the ending compared with the film. And I say that as someone that loves literature and rarely watches films. In fact I particularly like John Wyndham books and think that The Day of the Triffids film is rubbish compared with the book which is one of my top 10. But I'll never forget watching The Village of Damned when I was about 12 years old.
Have you seen the 1980's BBC adaptation? It's ace.yellowjack said:

'Dr.Who & The Daleks' from 1965 with Peter Cushing and Bernard Cribbins, it used to be shown on Saturday mornings quite often.
That was on Talking Pictures last week. Lasted about twenty minutes as it was so dreadful. Watched the original Taking of Pelham 123 again last night, recorded from Film 4 last week. Hadn't seen that in years.

I’ve just thought of two more from the same year as the Peter Cushing Dr.Who one - The Knack with Michael Crawford, Rita Tushingham and Ray Brookes, and Bunny Lake Is Missing starring Larry Olivier as a copper and Kier Dulles as the suspect kidnapper. Both are available on dvd but I haven’t seen them on TV for years.

Saw that maybe 7-8 years ago on the Horror Channel perhaps. A bit mental!
The Collector starring Terence Stamp and Samantha Eggar.
Like Bunny Lake is Missing and Kaleidoscope, made at the time when the US studios found it was
cheaper [ or more hip and Happening ] to make films in swinging London than the USA.
So you'd have Sam Eggar, Warren Beatty and Kier Dulleau whizzing round Knightsbridge
in a mini or MG, not quite the same as McQueen in a Mustang tearing round the streets of San Francisco.
