The Tall Guy. Was on TV a few times about 30 years ago, I’ve not seen it scheduled since.

My pet theory is that Emma Thompson bought the rights and buried it because of the scene where she was young and needed the money.

When I was a kid I loved the old black and white films shown on bbc2 at 6pm. The Will Hay and Harold Lloyd were my favourites as well as Norman Wisdom. Never seen any of them on tv for years.

Good shout, as rubbish as it is, I would love to watch Howard the duck again. I guess it's down to the baddie being a sex offender in real life.

When I was a kid everything on TV was black and white. The only channels were BBC and ITV.

I remember the Herbie films used to be on all the time, but I haven't seen any or noticed them on for years (though that isn't to say they aren't!)
I think the Herbie/Love Bug films suffer from rebootitus, whereby the reboots (at least two) move into the tv schedules. Conan suffers from this, everytime I see it on the planner it's, 'yes'! Then I press play to see it's the stty remake.
Love the first three Herbie films.
I’m not sure if it’s also got something to do with the permissions to show them?

All the herbie films are available on sky cinema Disney. I’m not sure if that impacts the rights to buy or show them in terrestrial.

I’ve tended to notice when a film comes on terrestrial or even on Netflix, it seems to disappear from sky’s catalogue.

I could be wrong though.

I remember seeing some Sinbad films, and probably the same ones. There was one on the Horror channel the other tea-time, but I don't know if it was a later remake or one of the old ones.

Talking Pictures is 328 on Sky with Retro Movies at 327. Both are worth checking if you like obscure films from the '40s and '50s.

Jason and the Argonauts has been on fairly recently.

Someone mentioned Conan the Barbarian as one of those films where it's alsways the remake that's shown. I'd add The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3 to that list.

A few films that were on TV years ago but I've never seen in a long time - 11 Harrrowhouse (Charles Grodin) and Heist (Warren Beatty/Goldie Hawn).
