The most disappointing film you've seen
Discussion
Arrival, within the opening frames my thoughts were: time-travel or some sort of psychic premonition phenomenon, fans may argue this wasn't the point. That the point was the moral question, if you know the outcome, do you still do it? This should be left at high school debating level, where it belongs. Kermode was effuse in his praise of this film, a celluloid Vonnegut was pretty much his take. What I got was sub-Contact drivel, you can't polish a turd, however, with enough glitter you can make it very, very shiny. This was the start of me losing respect for Kermode, his Last Jedi review put the tin lid on it.

And what is the one about the guy in army who comes back and his brother has been taken advantage of by a group driving a 2CV, one of the most disturbing but "made an impact on me" films I have seen in a very long time.
Not sure this should be in this thread - but I recently watched this film with my bro, and we both thought it was one of the best films we'd ever seen. Tough to watch at times for sure, but it was just so real. Amazing film. Can't remember the name though - will check netflix later. And the 2CV...genius!

Dead Man's Shoes. One of my favorite movies of all time. You can tell the Shame Meadows has spent time in some dodgy low level drug dealing doss flats before. The dialog is spot on. Allegedly.
That is the one. And yes, the dialog is oustanding - it felt like you weren't watching actors but 'real people'. irocfan said:
can I hazard a guess that he loves it?
Yes. Glowing, I forget exact words it was along the lines of "I'm not a star wars fan...I get this", funnily it also chimed with a lot of other critics appraisal, both in tone and content. He was prattling on about "acts" i.e. first act, etc.Complete and utter excrement.

Solo was actually quite fun - waaay better than TLJ (though that wouldn't be hard!).
Interesting that there's been no mention of The Phantom Menace given the SW mentions here
TLJ enabled the impossible, I found good in The Phantom Menace Interesting that there's been no mention of The Phantom Menace given the SW mentions here
Yeah, The Last Jedi is high up on the list for me

Lost in Translation; it could well be me but I just didn't 'get' it and yet it still seems to be considered by some to be one of the greatest films ever
This. I've tried to watch it twice and turn-off the exact same time at 28 minutes.

Terrible film.

One of my all time favourites. Very rare that I don’t watch a film to the end but Slumdog Millionaire, The Grand Budapest Hotel and 12 years a slave all bored me to tears.
