Not disappointing but more insulting, it instantly wiped out any of the good work done previously - Vanilla Sky. The end bit where it explained everything.

I rolled my eyes at the same thing in 'Joker' when they highlighted something that was blinding obvious to someone with an IQ higher than Diane Abbott.
On VS, how come?
ON JOker, it's more deceptive than that, like a triple agent.

It's a long while ago, but for me it's The Blair Witch Project. There was a huge amount of hype around it at the time.

I can still remember that when it ended in the cinema, all you could hear were loads of people saying things like "Is that the end?", "Was that it?", and "That was rubbish".
hahaha, yeah, I was the same, sat there waiting for stuff to happens, then, just as it looks something might happen, it ends....what a massive pr swizz!!!

I have to agree with this. The main problem is that there are just too many Marvel/Avenger movies coming out now. There are four scheduled for next year. It's going the same way as Star Wars and I think people are starting to get a bit bored with it.
two are out next year. After having three films above a billion this year, is the 'bored' thing a prediction?

Nazis in the moon? Iron skies, I think. Hilarious.

That's it.

I was expecting a serious alt reality movie so was disappointed it was a comedy.

Maybe I need to rewatch it.

Arrival, within the opening frames my thoughts were: time-travel or some sort of psychic premonition phenomenon, fans may argue this wasn't the point. That the point was the moral question, if you know the outcome, do you still do it? This should be left at high school debating level, where it belongs. Kermode was effuse in his praise of this film, a celluloid Vonnegut was pretty much his take. What I got was sub-Contact drivel, you can't polish a turd, however, with enough glitter you can make it very, very shiny. This was the start of me losing respect for Kermode, his Last Jedi review put the tin lid on it.
I always thought that contact was an OK film but with a solid gold turd of an ending in equating faith to science. But I had no expectations for it so it's not a disappointing one for me. I think Arrival accomplished more though, or tries to.

Pulp fiction when it first came out at the cinema in 1994, l got sucked into the hype but I didn't enjoy it one bit. I keep meaning to give it another go though because I was a fair bit younger back then.

I didn't see it at the cinema, but watched it at home with my wife. She was stunned by it, proper hiding under the sofa, then sleeping with the light on stuff. It really gripped her. Me? I laughed like a drain the whole way through. I thought it was a comedy, a spoof, a piss-take. I couldn't believe that a film as bad as that got made, let alone was allowed out of the editing suite to release. Utter bilge from start to finish.

And you can add Saw to the list too. "I want to play a game". Sure thing, I've got Ludo, Monopoly, and Risk in the cupboard under the stairs, and I can borrow a chess board from next door if you'd prefer that? About as scary as an episode of Terrahawks, ffs...

Dredd.

It just felt like a boring tour of Nelson Mandela House with a few guns going off now and then. I even gave it another go a few years later and it felt like another tour of Nelson Mandela House.

Honestly, all sorts. My taste in movies is as eclectic as my taste in music.

I even rank 'The Night Flier' above Dredd and that's a "horror" movie we laughed at all the way through.

Trainspotting - everyone raves about it and after watching it i thought it was the most depressing film i have ever seen, just horrible.

Drive - hyped up and was utter rubbish, particularly the part where the hero's car punted another car over a cliff and didn't have any damage on it after banghead

Yeah but, say in the last ten films, what action film is the best one for you say? Personally I think Dredd is the best film of it's type in the last 15 years; gritty 18 actioner, back to the heydays of the 80s, so I just wondered what actioner of that type you rate in the last ten.

I couldn't possibly say as I like so many. If you had a gun at my head and asked me to name something I really enjoyed and was looking forward to seeing again quite quickly, I would probably say something like Sicario.

That is a good shout, and I'm not sure where the good reviews came from for it. Both me and my Mrs thought that it was dog turd.

That's a good shout.

Saw Reservoir Dogs the week it came out and it absolutely blew me away, the 1990s films had started. It was like nothing I'd seen before.

Looked forward to Pulp Fiction and felt dissapointed, it felt bloated and too much like it was trying too hard.

Do remember the dissapointment leaving the cinema but thankfully I've learned to appreciate and love it for the great film it is.
