Moore doesn't own the rights to Halo JOnes (or any of his creations I think, but not sure, many of his works have been adapted.)

There is a most excellent docufilm called, Futureshock, it goes into the rights issue quite a bit.

I'm hoping the upcoming Pratchet series (The Watch?) is an improvement of the previous TV adaptations of his stuff, but not holding out a great hope. Good Omens was ok though, but presumably because Gaiman was heavily involved, although I wasn't that impressed by American Gods.
I've given up hoping for a decent Pratchett adaptation - every one of them so far has been utter scensoredt.

I found American Gods to be far better, and aimed at adult rather than kids. That said, I'm not familiar with the source material so I've got nothing to compare it to.

Crossed psychopath or crossed family values....But if you ever get to read them you’ll see why I don’t think it would ever be allowed on TV not even with an R rating...the writer David Lapham is one sick puppy

Discworld.

Please do not cite this abomination of "The Watch" series which is currently under production.

A "woke", SJW abomination unto Nuggan.

eek
It would kick Band of Brothers in to the long grass...
hehe
I have a 15 year old Godson who is mad keen on WW2 and the Nazis. I ran it past his father first... but he's getting Wheels of Terror for Xmas.

hehe
Christ I remember reading every single one of Sven Hassel's books when I was about 15, so nearly 40 years ago now. Loved them all although feel they may be a bit wrong-sidey for Netflixing LOL

I thought of the Thomas Covenant Chronicles when I was the thread title. Long time since I read them but I do recall them having some real depth to the main character as he moves from modern day to fantasy world and struggles to adjust.

The more I think this, the more I think the title should be "which books/comics SHOULDN'T be netflixed".

Experience tells us if our favourite book was adapted for TV they would ruin it.

Forget Alan Moore, everyone knows that Pat Mills was the real talent in the early 2000AD comic.

  • Slaine: The Horned God: Some fans had a rather good go at a trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRIPAsbhZpM
  • Charley's War - My history lessons didn't teach me that British soldiers got involved in the Russian revolution.
  • Nemesis the Warlock. - be pure be vigilant behave (Note to poster on NPE, Torquemada isn't the good guy).
  • ABC Warriors - Loads of big, killer robots.
  • Marshall Law - A take down of Superheroes (Who needs Watchmen)
  • Accident Man.
  • Flesh - How the dinosaurs were wiped out.

My first thought also upon reading the thread title and I'm surprised how many others think the same.

Total and utter brutality. I still have the books and may well re-read them as it has been a while.

Who would play who though;

Old man
Porta
Legionnaire
Tiny

Oooooh I couldn't disagree more.

John Wagner wrote the best strips. Spare dialogue, excellent characterisation, great plots.

Pat Mills was (and still is) far too wordy, has no sense of building to climaxes, and must insist on bashing you over the head with his politics.

that's a pretty dismissive (and inaccurate imo) post. Moore has created some of my favourite graphic novels.
I like Marshall Law a lot (I see some of the Boys in it), but for me it's not as rereadable or iconic as Watchmen. I did love Accident Man.
I like both Mills and Moore, and others. biggrin
