Investigating copper walks in, proceeds to give birth in the post mortem theatre…
Just make it somehow believable for goodness sake.
Yes at least give her some gas and air.Just make it somehow believable for goodness sake.
I have no problem with the concept of introducing “differently abled” (is that what we are supposed to say now?) actors but the problem with the way the current series is written is that the story is moving along and then suddenly everything has to stop while we get a five minute lesson in sign language. I’m sure a better writer could incorporate this without having to keep halting proceedings.
I’d like to say “Bring back Clarissa” but I’ve a feeling that the actress who played her is not very well.

Is it me or is the sign language element getting overdone?
Also the casual comings and goings of family members into a secure office holding confidential information.
Yes, there is a bit much of the signing, it breaks up the flow of things. The secure office thing is interesting too - I'm working my way through "24" and it's amazing how lax the security is in the Counter-Terrorism Unit, and it goes on over all this sort of programme, random people wandering around places. I imagine in large companies there's quite a lot of that. Also the casual comings and goings of family members into a secure office holding confidential information.
Eco-warriors seem to have saved the developers a bit of time - there was no way they were going to run a "high speed rail line" through a single-track tunnel anyway, it would have at least needed widening.
So, early on in part two, Jack puts his man-bag / briefcase on the chair and turns around to take a very short phone call. By the time he's said "Yep, I'll be there", his bag is suddenly on the floor and he has to bend down to pick it up. Woman in the background hasn't moved it. Sloppy continuity.

The deaf girl hasn’t replaced Clarissa, the ex Hacidic guy has. The girl is random background complication for Jack.I’d like to say “Bring back Clarissa” but I’ve a feeling that the actress who played her is not very well.

The last 2 were just awful......perhaps its time to be retired.
I was thinking a similar thing last night, as I realised it was more fun spotting errors than actually following the plot.Do people using sign language always whisper what they're saying as well? I found that really irritating, but I guess it might be so that the recipient can combine lip-reading and signs, or maybe because the rest of them are still learning to sign.

My only experience of BSL is from watching Rose Ailing-Ellis on Eastenders and Strictly and she certainly talks while she's signing. In fact I would go as far as to say that it's probably down to her profile on the BBC that Silent Witness has a deaf character.
