Forgive my ignorance but what is the German model? They still have a TV licence don't they?

As I recall, didn't the BBC have an ad that used to say "....because of the unique way the BBC is funded" ?

So not unique then.

However, that wiki link shows a lot of countries with a TV license but most in the table are shown as 0 euros - i.e. not a TV license. 20 countries I count. But that is still a fair few and the BBC does try to give them impression the UK is the only country that has one.
