Half way through The Captain (der Hauptmann) on Amazon Prime. Set in Germany in the last weeks of the way and a study on a descent into madness. It is definitely a solo watching film when Mrs is out.
Pretty gritty stuff and not sure where it is going except badly wrong for all the players.

The Sea Wolves (1980).

Great story telling and a real incident.

Sealed Cargo 1951
A Danish schooner is discovered in fog banks off the Canadian coast by Dana Andrews and his local fishing crew, alerted to hearing machine guns as unseen u-boats communicate. Heavily damaged it is towed back to port, unaware that the captain, Claude Raines, is concealing the stores and torpedoes to service the submarines and is in fact a nazi plot.

Filmed typically in a fashionable atmospheric ' film noir ', the shadows set the mood for a good eerie thriller.

Great to see it on TV as i saw it many years ago.

Don't think The best years of our lives, has been mentioned yet. Superb film. The aircraft graveyard scenes are noteworthy.
