Netflix - What gems have you found? (NO SPOILERS) (Vol. 2)
Discussion
Dune 2
I wanted to love this but it seemed a bit empty. I'm far far more interested in storytelling than SFX or even glorious photography which I admit this film has in spades.
I didn't really follow how much time was passing in the story, and overall felt it just wasn't... what... fascinating? One of my friends felt it was the best film he'd ever seen but, yeah not me. I enjoyed part 1, and I've watched it a couple of times since but I can't see myself watching part 2 again.

Damn. Wrong thread. Sorry. Should have been in the films thread.
Easily done. Sometimes it's hard to know what platform you are actually on. I access all my streaming services on my non-smart plasma TV via an Amazon TV box and it does a good job of seamlessly integrating all my services (Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney+, and my media server via Emby) such that sometimes I don't know where what I am watching is coming from.

Has anyone seen Baby Reindeer yet?
Based on a true story and British.
I’m only 1 episode in so far but intrigued to find out what’s making it an 18 rating
We are 3 in and it’s bloody creepy.Based on a true story and British.

The next one has a warning about sexual violence so that will be why

well I've very nearly finished (and enjoyed) The Gentlemen - yes it likes to think that it's smarter than it actually is, yes it's essentially a 'paint-by-numbers'/cookie-cutter series but it is fun.
Need to clear my viewing for Fallout (Amazon) tomorrow
The first half of the first episode I was ready to turn it off it was going nowhere, and then there was the "Oh st" twist at the end, and you knew that you'd be hooked for another few episodes. Need to clear my viewing for Fallout (Amazon) tomorrow
Trying not to spoil it for anyone.

Loving Ripley.
Never read the books and can't recall seeing the previous film!
We’ve just finished watching Ripley - really enjoyed it and filmed entirely in B&W adds to the bleakness.Never read the books and can't recall seeing the previous film!
Well worth a watch if at times a little far fetched. We hadn’t read the book or seen the film either so nothing to compare it with.

The scary thing is I was in a relationship with a woman like this, although not quite as crazy. On one hand it was nice having everything on a plate without any effort, but on the other it was bloody hard work. The breakup involved new phone numbers, email accounts and changed door locks!

The Antisocial Network.
A dive into the beginnings of Anonymous and how a carefree anime site ended up showing the bleakness of social media.
It’s an outstanding documentary.
I watched this the other night. I wasn't sure where it was going but it was mad to see just how far a community sharing memes can go, leading people to some crazy places. A dive into the beginnings of Anonymous and how a carefree anime site ended up showing the bleakness of social media.
It’s an outstanding documentary.

Makes me want to learn Italian, take up black and white photography, and purchase a nice pen to actually write instead of type!
I don't know the full story so I half expected a couple of dead people to come back to life before disposal!

A mate of mine currently has 2 women stalking him, not to the extremes of baby reindeer but, enough to cause a bit of a rethink about where he's going, who with etc. The scary thing is I was in a relationship with a woman like this, although not quite as crazy. First one went as far as contacting our employer and tried to get myself, another friend and him sacked by reporting that we were doing all sorts of dodgy things when we were supposed to be working from home.
Scary that I could have been collateral damage, lost my career, home and done untold damage to my family just so she could get a dig in at him.
Thankfully he'd already been in contact with the police about her plus my boss is a decent sort who trusts us.
