Actually, on a thread recommending stuff to watch, that is a massive spoiler.

I've watched S1 and S2, but people come here to find stuff they haven't watched/missed the first time around.
I would agree. I would be considerate to put the post in spoiler tags just in case.
Jesus, it's frustrating that people KEEP doing this. It says NO SPOILERS in the thread title.

If folk want to discuss what actually happens in a show, use a show-specific thread for it.

People reading this thread are fishing for what to watch next.

Exactly! By very definition, this thread is for people to discover stuff they haven't watched yet so, no, everyone hasn't watched it yet and therefore any spoiler is a spoiler. It's not a difficult concept to grasp!

Not sure what changed with The Sinner into season 3, whether it was writers or directors but it really was poor. It didn't help that there was no emotional connection whatsoever to Matt Bomers character who was just unlikable from the off.
I was disappointed.

no mention of Bordertown on here.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4937942/

Bit of a gritty Finnish crime drama.

"Quirky police detective, in Finland, delves into his mind palace to solve despicable crimes all the while trying to keep his family together. If Sherlock was based in Finland this would be it. " sums it up nicely.

I like how it's broken down into 2 parters.

Do Netflix just buy the rights to have the film available for a certain amount of time, or do they pay per view?

Cabin in the woods. I liked this.

A fresh angle on an old theme.

No pay per view on Netflix - which I think is a strong feature.

Prime irritates me with most things I want to watch pop up asking for more money.

I guess Netflix have a mix of perpetual stuff and time limited stuff - there are certainly some country differences in content.

Dr Jekyll was asking what Commercial Rights are entered into by Netflix in order to provide content to its customers, not how Netflix charges its customers.

I think the Dr meant do Netflix pay the film distributor an amount per times watched by their subscribers, or a fixed rate and take their chances of it being viewed many times.

It's time based. Typically 1, 3 or 5 years, or in some cases in perpituity.
Netflix uses data mining (a LOT of data mining) to determine what to offer for the rights to screen something - the more subscribers it's likely to attract the longer they'll want it on the platform so they'll offer more to a content producer.

The cost also depends on whether something is exclusive to Netflix or not, a license is obviously cheaper if it's non-exclusive but as above, if the content is likely to drive subscribers to Netflix, they'll pay more for exclusivity.

You should understand almost all content is bought via a bidding process - content providers will offer content to the market and the various platforms and broadcasters are invited to make an offer, although occasionally providers are commissioned to make further series/sequels etc.

I'm quite enjoying Snowpiercer. The whole concept is daft as to why they are on a train but the actual show is put together pretty well. The characters are shades of grey and the plot is building up nicely.

The internal dimensions of some of the carriages is ridiculous. They make the tardis look perfectly natural.

Just watched the Eurovision film with Will Ferrell in it. Watchable and fun. Enjoyed it. Particularly liked the bits with Ferrell telling all the American tourists to stop coming to Iceland and that they fking hate them.

Starts off OK, dips in the middle, then picks up at the end. It's a fun watch. Anything with Rachel McAdams gets my vote.

Watched the first five episodes of the third and final season of Dark.
All I can say is if you thought seasons one and two where confusing then get ready for the serious head f***ery that is season 3.
Not only do you have the usual who is related to who in the different timelines but now it is happening in two different worlds
Still epic, still mind blowing. Can't wait to finish it then do it all over again when I realise I didn't really get it laugh

Just finished Ozark series 3. I really like the series and the style of the filming etc. However it is getting a little bit grim / graphic at times. The subject matter is drug cartels so understandable, but I’m feel for the first time that watching all this isn’t very ‘healthy’.

Undercover Belgian/Dutch drama about two cops undercover with drug kingpin operation.
Rather enjoyable and apparently loosely based on true story.
