Queen’s Gambit.

A great series. The actress was mesmerising.
Agreed. She was great as Emma too.
Something was pointed out to me about the last scene and I was gobsmacked. Look at what she's wearing because...

She's a queen!!! Specifically, the white queen. The most powerful piece on the board. From the oversized bobble on her hat to her white boots. Incredible symbolism that I completely missed...

Just sums up how incredible this series was.

Completely missed it too, as soon as you said it was a facepalm moment, of course!!

Finished Suburra, fantastic final episode that would have fitted in perfectly with Gomorrah. Very slick, dark and some unexpected moments.

Don't shoot me, but Mrs L & I are quite enjoying Virgin River. Rom Com Dram with a bit of an edge.

My youngest lad bumped into her at an airport and got a selfie. He was smitten and says she was lovely in real life.

Well worth a watch, lovely lighting and cinematography. The music didn't piss me off either. (Unlike Roadkill!)

Another vote for The Queen's Gambit. We finished the last episode tonight. Enthralling television.

Thought I would give this a try. First episode is a little slow but perceiving, look promising.

Over the past two weeks I’ve watched 3 foreign language series

To the lake - Russian

La Revolution- French

Barbarians-German.

3 of the best series I’ve seen on tv for some time. Far better than anything Netflix has put out in English of late. Very much looking forward to them all being renewed.

Watch them if you get a chance.

Finished the Queen’s Gambit in 1 sitting. Really enjoyed it, even watch a YouTube video breaking down the final game which was cool.
I thought it was absolutely brilliant, ever so slightly disappointed that it wasn’t a true story, but a really enjoyable mini series.
also enjoyed this.

Emily in Paris.
Light, fluffy fish out of water comedy.
Watched one, then another three. Enjoyable.

I haven't taken a glance at To The Lake, but IMO Kingdom (Netflix) is far better than it's copycat sibling La Revolution, and The Last Kingdom (Netflix, though not foreign language admittedly) is leagues ahead of the similarly themed - see also Vikings - sword/peasants/rubbish haircuts/sex/ faux historical drama.

Having watched and lauded Kingdom - it’s a hugely different story and theme. La Revolution has higher production values and has a much darker undertone.

Vikings was good and a good comparison with Barbarians - just enjoyed the latter more.

+1 Rich
I introduced Mrs C to the series and we’ve started from series 1 now onto series 2. Better a second time...missed so much detail first time round...
