Thunder Force - don't just don't.

I like a lot of what Melissa McCarthy has done - yes it's lightweight/fluff but, on the whole, I found it funny enough. TF is, however, total toss.

2/10 (and one of those is for the soundtrack which I really enjoyed)
her films have been on a very downward slope for a while

How did she every get classed as a comedian. It is probably the worst film I've ever seen, and i watched the new Ghostbusters.

i have no issue with funny women, but it really feels like there aren't any and if i was a women would find this pretty offensive, i mean it is aimed at them surely because there is no other reason to make such crap,

Before you watch a film do you ever get a feeling that you will really not like it. There are a few films and shows that I will nope out after seeing the trailer.

Ghostbuster - with the ladies
Taxi - Queen Latifa one
Thunder Force
Palm Springs
Parks and Recreation
The Office

Just started watching 'new girl', looks like a long watch. However, I would liken it to a more modern version of friends. Very well written, funny, intelligent, a bit of romance and sexiness to it too. Well worth a stab. Each episode is about 20 mins, so don't have to invest a lot of time in to it.

Firstly it's based off a French graphic novel so by those standards it's sane.

The train thing is just the basis for setting up the universe. Logic wise it's no better or worse than all sorts of other stories which play games with their setting. Mostly the train thing is about being trapped in a box by a hostile environment (like loads of space type stuff is) and the train giving an interesting structure to build a society around with the whole linear space graduated from front to back, so you can do the whole social justice thing and also have a metaphor with 'God' at one end with the nice comfy bit, and Hell filled with the suffering at the other.

Vastly better than the film too which became every more dissapointing as it went on, with a really bad ending.
The basic train concept is batst. However, once you accept that the train exists and it works then the rest of the story is pretty well done. I just finished tonight and it was enjoyable although I struggled a bit in the middle act.

The Legend of Cocaine Island.

If you'd like to watch a very fat, stupid, American, make a complete tit of himself this is for you. Not to mention his pardner in crime who is hilariously off his tits.

Real life documentary, an hour and twenty minutes of pure WTF biggrin

+1 to this [This is a Robbery]. Good watch if you like true crime docs.

No doubt some of it is a bit sensationalised, but interesting all the same.
There's a great documentary series called 'Art of the Heist' that I watched the first 3 of in one go last week that has a similar feel - the one where the main interview was with an English forger who was talking about the scam he was involved with, how his accomplice went into the Tate archives to change add in the new paintings was quite shocking stuff!

Got a feeling it was on Prime so I've marked this as Off Topic...

Couple of films coming soon that look reasonably good, Love and Monsters and a Netflix exclusive sci-fi called Stowaway.

The end of S2 gets ridiculous, but S3 is back to sensible.
Hmmm ... S3 seemed to get even more ridiculous, it just turns into an ever more implausible web of Russian intelligence and computer hacking!

Nevermind, still enjoyed it, but S1 definitely the strongest ...

Currently watching a reasonably old BBC Drama called 'Collateral'. John Simm and Nicola Walker amongst others. It's ok and only 4 parts so doesn't involve too much investment.

I watched this first time around a few years back. Great series, characters and much better than Friends IMO. Still laugh at “Hair Chuterney”.

Have you seen the Worricker trilogy - if you like Collateral, it may appeal - also by David Hare and starring the inestimable Bill Nighy.

Not finished it yet, but going great guns. Got to be one of the funniest and well written programs I have seen in years. Some of the characters are hilarious, schmidt for example has such a depth of character.

New Girl is one of my guilty pleasures, had given it a break for a while but this has sparked my interest again, there's just something about Jess.... yum

Yep, I know what you mean. The show wouldn't be anything without the others too though.

No I haven't, thank you. I did enjoy it and wondered if he'd done anything else, problem is we tend to watch box sets in bed and I forget I meant to Google it by morning biggrin
