We probably watch more foreign series than English language ones and only ever watch them with original audio and subtitles.

I detest dubbed audio. Utterly incongruous with the characters.

So I now have to listen, read subtitles and lips to figure out what language she's using at any time whilst also wondering whether there's any deeper significance to it all biggrin.
hehe

We were ten minutes into Lupin Part Deux when my wife exclaimed "They're speaking English!"

Definitely.

Ive tried dubbed versions but it doesn’t work for me. Some English speaking voice actor in a studio can’t convey the words the same as the actor actually there.

Watched a lot of foreign stuff over the past few months - some very good stuff out there.

I'm currently midway through S2 of Ragnarok.

Aside from Magne's mum (who sounds just like Swedish chef from the Muppets), the dubbed English dialogue is not too bad - it certainly doesn't detract from what is a very good show. It seems to help that they have retained Norwegian accents.

Though slightly annoying when it's something Japanese and animated and they forget to include the English dub. Which happened with something I watched recently where they had 10 soundtracks but had lost the usual English track.

I'll always watch in original language as I find I pay far more attention to what's going on. Some dubbing today is bad as the classic kung fu movies from the 80s and 90s.

One thing being worked on is deepfaking the mouth and face movement to match the language being spoken in dubbed film https://twitter.com/Flawlessai/status/138922858354...

For me with dubbing you are relying on the voice actor being as good and understanding the direction and production as the original, even if they are excellent I struggle to see how, thats before you get to the lip sync stuff etc

Something like Gomorrah just wouldn't work dubbed imo

A really good example is watching one of the Original Cast Star Trek movies dubbed in another language. No voice actor seems to be able to capture the original performance of Shatner or Nimoy, the acting simply doesn't translate.

Nearly there. Enjoyed the start more than the end.

Enjoyed it. Loved the landscape and dark tone. Left a few questions hanging in the air…

Dropped a bit in the middle but really enjoyed the last episode. Got pretty dark - especially with what darri and his wife did to solve their “situation”.

Ironically she's the only actor who does her own dubbing in this

America - The Motion Picture

I’m not sure what I’ve just watched.

Some funny bits. Some bits that I didn’t get. Childish in the extreme but with plenty of gore.

Not one to watch if you’re looking for highbrow entertainment.

6 London bus AT-AT’s out of 10 George Washington’s.

They've added Akira for anyone who hasn't seen it or wants another look.

Original Japanese or the English dub for the lazy.
