I've only done 2 episodes but even on a well calibrated tv it's just too dark and slow and I really don't care is it worth carrying on?
It really is. It is too dark though so benefits from night viewing or brightness up. I will warn you though that the ending is LOST levels of annoying.

MELTDOWN - Three Mile Island. (Documentary).
Probably mentioned before, but well worth a watch. Some seriously unexpected revelations.
It's been mentioned; too much inaccurate scaremongering hysteria, a load of filler(no reason for this to be longer than maybe 2hrs) and incoherent exposition of what actually happened and why, there are far better docos about Three Mile Island. The only new/worthwhile bit was the testimony by the locals, which is generally ignored or skimmed over in other productions. Hiring talking heads who don't understand the physics of nuclear reactors, or willingly tell lies about it if they do, just reduces it to facile propaganda. Similarly about the risks associated with contamination. TMI 1 was so dangerous it operated until closure in 2019. It would have been interesting if the causes of the accident were put in context of the wider US nuclear industry, particularly issues of falsification of test data and quality assurance documentation for which there were criminal prosecutions.Probably mentioned before, but well worth a watch. Some seriously unexpected revelations.
So they've edited Ghost In The Shell SAC 2045 season one into a film (GITS : Sustainable War)
*Don't* watch the film, stick to the series, which they've still got too.
They chopped 5 hours down into 2 hours; not necessarily a problem as there was some slack to drop. Problem is they also changed the order the bits are in so now it's incoherent as well as missing too much - there are bits in the 'film' where they'll refer to stuff that hasn't happened yet because they shuffled the plot, and other scenes are missing so much that what's left makes no sense at all. So it's basically garbage.
Watch the series though, it's pretty good (not original SAC good, but OK). And Season 2 is out shortly.

I watched Criminal off the back of this thread. Some big star names make an appearance but yeah, my God it was awful.
I also watched it on the back of recommendations on here. I didn't think it was too bad honestly. A bit cheesy perhaps but, as a brain out couple of hours entertainment, I thought it was decent enough.Speckle said:

I concur. Once you get over the visual style, it's actually not a bad series and it had some interesting plot developments. I'm really looking forward to Season 2 as Season 1 ended with an intriguing development and I want to see how it is resolved.

There's a film called Criminal, which is average, but there's also a mini series called Criminal based on police interview rooms which is absolutely superb. Just in case anyone goes looking for one or the other and gets confused.
So, did I watch the Kevin Costner movie based on a recommendation for something entirely different?! I've also seen most of the series and, I agree that it wasn't all that good.

I watched it the other night for the first time since it was originally released. Absolutely excellent. The CGI in the “story of a bullet” over the opening credits has not aged too well, that’s the only fault I could find with it.https://vimeo.com/119290521

We are two episodes into The Pentaverate and it's a bit..... weird. Not 100% sure if we are going to continue with it, but it's sort of.... intriguing?
It's complete garbage.Anyhoo, I'm 3 in so far.
It's just fking bks, and I genuinely don't understand how anybody could find it enjoyable.
Mind you, I tried Hard Cell which, it turns out, is just a Catherine Tate sketch show, and therefore fking bks too.
Maybe I'm just not thick enough for this kind of 'entertainment'.
