The Good Liar

Helen Mirren and Sir Ian Mckellen star in an online dating scam type scenario with a twist.

Not bad and has the pace to keep you entertained 8 Tinders out of 10

Yeah , we really enjoyed this . There's something addictive about watching premier league thesps like this pair doing mainstream fluff - it looked they wee having fun .
Enjoyed this too.

Thought Russel Tovey was quite good too. First time I've seen him in a serious role. Him and Her is a favourite of mine and good to see him evolve from that type of role.
Watched it last night - not quite as keen as previous reviewers.
Acted well enough, but in equal measure so predictable and yet grossly implausible so as to miss out on any meaningful engagement with the viewer.

Not a waste of time, but a 6.5 in my mind.

Lincoln Lawyer (series)

Enjoyed the books and the film but the series is just standard glossy, acting by numbers.

The storyline might carry it through but it has the look and feel of a daytime soap.
I like it, yes it not a patch on the film, but an easy way to watch series, good sunday viewing.
I haven't read the book or seen the form but I still enjoyed it, as you say it's an easy watch and doesn't require too much concentration with enough twists and turns to keep me entertained. I thought the lead actor's accent went a bit haywire at times though, suddenly going all Italian/ New York Jewish for a sentence or two then carrying on as before.

Thought that was just when he was going more into his natural Mexican accent? Did wobble around a bit but when it did I heard it more as being Mexican Spanish than anything else.

Absolutely bonkers and hilarious rofl
We watched it yesterday and loved it so watched jackass forever tonight. Both great, think I slightly preferred 4.5, maybe just cos we watched that first and a lot of the stuff was similar.

Finished the last series of Ozark last night. It might just be the best series yet! Absolutely one of the best things on Netflix.
Apologies for repost from Ozark thread, but lots on there don't rate this season whereas I'm with you, I thought it was excellent. Perhaps I am looking into it way too deeply, but for me, this series was a biting critique of capitalism and American neo liberalism. The real villain was the easily exploitable system, the real criminals always played the victim card whilst screwing everyone over royally, with their permission and despite giving then plenty of notice, time and again. I really enjoyed the way the characters became ever more empty as the series progressed as their souls slowly left them. Power corrupts and being within touching distance of absolute power corrupts more than absolute power itself.
Agreed, I finished it last night, very much enjoyed.
I'm so glad I read the comments on this thread about Ozark, I had watched series 1 and given up on it. I'm now on series 3 and it just gets better. Truly outstanding, although I do wonder how long I could go in a cellar without growing a beard.
I agree too. Ozark is right up there with the best.

I've just finished watching series 2 of "Russian Doll" and can highly recomend. Both series had a similar but different premise, and I think it makes sense (I might need to rewatch to fully understand!)

Russian Doll is excellent.

As you say, the two series are different. The first is a regular time-hopping tale - good value drama. In the second, the writing takes a leap up - she's basically turned into a walking, talking philosophy lecture - you really have to pay attention to catch the non-stop gems through her accent and rapid delivery.

Geneve came close to bankrupting him. Covered in the film!

He was also a genius. I loved the fact that he got cheques printed with his picture on them so when he went to get his shopping, if they knew who he was, the cheque would get kept and never banked!
Excellent, thanks. Very clever on the cheques smile I'll be watching that over the weekend !
Watched it yesterday. Very interesting.

He certainly has some very dedicated fans !

Three Mile Island.

It’s about a nuclear accident. Worth a watch if you enjoy documentaries and wonder why there are not thousands of nuclear plants around.

Slightly disturbing how much pleasure every single lady took in hitting them in the plums with Bowling balls, tennis balls, baseballs, horses and riding crops.

Couldn't work out if I liked the site of the tennis player with her seriously high dress, and constant knicker shots as she served up. Part of me wonders whether she was hoping for some off camera action - certainly looked quite provocative.

A new series of "Somebody Feed Phil" is coming this week. Enjoyable, gentle travelogue with slightly barmy, very hungry American host. Looking forward to this.

Rock and Roll's Greatest Failure: Otway the Movie

Started watching thinking is was going to be rubbish but ended up being a hilarious and interesting documentary. The guy is clearly weapon's grade bonkers but brilliant for it.

Not many will be familiar with John Otway but those who are, know!
I had a chat with him in a pub in Edinburgh when he sat down next to us. Stole some of my other half's chips !

Apart from the mad punky style songs he's done a couple of nice slow ones - "Geneve" with a massive orchestra that must have cost a fortune to produce and also a nice folky version of "Jerusalem".

I'll check it out, would be very interesting to see.

Jack Charlton used to do same,at least with signature on fishing trips in Ireland, after being football manager for them, get round of drinks for the pub,in knowledge bar would keep cheque on wall behind bar lol

I like The Office. I like After Life. I like (some of) Extras.

I don't generally like Rick Gervais' stand-up.

But Super Nature is very funny. Well worth a watch to see irony done properly.
