Every now and again I get a reminder of how little TV I've watched in the last 10 years. Not heard of her or any of those progs either.
I’d put Phoneshop up there with the very best of comedies.Absolutely brilliant at capturing how it was at that time for many.
You perhaps need to be a bit “Street” to get it but it’s genius.

Cheers. I probably stopped being anything like "street" about 30 years ago unfortunately Absolutely brilliant at capturing how it was at that time for many.

Michael Aspel.
I'm sure it's just an age thing and he's happily retired, but he was a stalwart of TV from the 70s to the 90s but hasn't been seen in ages.
Well he is 88 and retired a while ago...I'm sure it's just an age thing and he's happily retired, but he was a stalwart of TV from the 70s to the 90s but hasn't been seen in ages.
Sad that most celebs who achieved fame during the early surge of television are now no longer with us - Forsyth, Monkhouse, Ronnies etc....Those types were true celebs often starting off in clubs and working their way to TV fame. Nowadays fame is more instant but not as long lasting.

Early? I'd put that era as the "golden age" of TV rather than it's "early surge". However, it was "golden", not so much because the quality was great (it wasn't always), but it was certainly watched by far more people - mainly through the lack of choice available.Edited by LeadFarmer on Tuesday 4th January 12:34
I don't think any individuals will ever get to the same levels of popularity simply due to the fact that they don't have 20 million plus watching them.
Watching some old Toast of London (as a new series starts tonight) episodes and there was somebody in that by the name of Terry Mynott.
He seemed to pop up in lots of things a few years back and seemed to be very much up and coming if I remember rightly, then was the main character in a C4 comedy series: The Mimic.
He seemed to just disappear as quickly as he arrived.

Lorraine Chase was a big noise last century, although can't remember why she was a celeb.
Maybe she's just retired to the suburbs with her hubby and her cats, or I missed her death.
Saw her at Luton Airport only the other day.Maybe she's just retired to the suburbs with her hubby and her cats, or I missed her death.
