Apologies for my ignorance, who is he and what’s occured to the poor fellow. Generally interested and not much time to watch TV of late.
Tony Slattery is a comedian. He was on “Whose line is it anyway?” - big Friday night c4 comedy show of the 80s/90s.
He was in a few films and was a constant presence on comedy TV shows.

He was heavily into marching powder and booze which did him few favours for his mental health (bipolar). There is not much left of his health and he struggles with day to day life; albeit with an awful stoicism.

A morality play of those times, so tragic that he had to live it. Comes across as a lovely, lost man still battling his mind and alcohol.

Mark Lamarr, never see him anymore.
Wasn't he arrested/convicted of summat?
Charged with assault and false imprisonment but it was dropped before the trial and he received an apology from the CPS. Mud sticks and the damage is done by then though

Any of those will be earning plenty during their time on the soap.

In three years they’ll make enough to set them up for life.

Whether they do is another matter but they’d certainly be on big ( not Hollywood big) money.
How much did Bruce Forsyth make in his lifetime?
I don’t know. A lot more than a soap actor though I’d imagine

Why do you ask?
Why do I ask?

Well, nosiness, general curiosity, stuff like that.

Plus, Bruce Forsyth kept working almost to the end. He died at 89 and his last show can't have been long before he died.

The £11 million, someone mentioned, I would have thought was on the low side?

Maybe. But, IMO, he was the best game show host of his Generation.

Very possibly. Certainly, one of the best.

Why should our admiration of someone's talent preclude us from wondering how much they are paid, how much they made, how much they kept and what they did with it after they died?

Agree with all of the above. What also came across in the programme for me was...that was a close knit bunch of comics back then, and whilst they all may have had their demons, they seem to have pulled themselves together, formed careers. One wonders how much help Slattery was offered, or refused from his friends/colleagues, or were they too absorbed in their own bubbles? I get it the ultimate choices are the individuals responsibility, but sometimes the odd signpost along the way can help. Were they offered and ignored or simply not posted?

The other thing was I have no doubt he would be dead or irreparably damaged were it not for the loving relationship he is in. Powerful.

I completely agree with the importance of his relationship; they clearly have a very loving relationship and strong bond. It must be incredibly challenging to care for him.

I thought the Stephen Fry meeting was telling, clearly they had been colleagues / friends, but Fry seemed to struggle to connect to the person that he had known. Just my interpretation of the exchange though.

Sad and powerful; and valuable insight into mental health difficulties people face.

I agree with the Fry meeting, he seemed sincere enough but there was little connection, despite Fry having had challenges to his mental health as well, I saw sincerity but not much compassion.

Mark (Tony's partner) is a wonderful person, totally devoted and his love seems pretty unconditional. It is sad to see what the ravages of drink and drugs have done to Tony who was once a very good looking bloke, today compared to Mark who seems pretty clean living in comparison, given how long they've been together and the fact they don't have much age difference. The pic of them as the "golden couple" , Mark doesn't seem to have aged much at all.

Quite shocking to see Tony, but at the same time hopefully he will fight his demons and be at peace with himself eventually.

What happened to that fella who first built a kit-car, then a plane? Really good presenter I thought, good at pausing and explaining things and always was very meticulous.....

Mark something I think?

Mark Evans? Didn't he present those recent-ish shows on C4 about the Jaguar Lightweight E and XKSS continuations?

I think he did.

He also did some dissections on Channel 4 - "Inside Nature's Giants". Having just googled it, it was 2009. How time flies.
