I'm pretty late to the party here, but I'm half way through the crossover episode (phone call distracted me) and I can honestly say it's one of the best episodes so far - The clear love of the writers of star trek shines through
1 of the higher points of season 2. I guess you have the musical to come...Overall I thought season 1 was higher quality writing. Hopefully S3 gets back up there.
Not looking forward to the musical though....
I actually rewatched the musical the other day...I still don't mind it and am not against the idea, but I didn't think that it held up all that well to a (for me) third viewing. The songs are the problem- there's a lot of fairly forgettable generic American/Disney stuff there, and it just doesn't stand up as well as Buffy's 'Once More With Feeling', which is just the benchmark really, even all these years later.
I just hope that series 3 of SNW actually goes to...you know...some SNW...a bit more often.

Meh!
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone really wanting that (or the Starfleet Academy)
I think a lot of fans actually did want something focused on Section 31 back in the DS9 days. Disco has taken it in a different direction and I agree, I'm not particularly fussed about seeing it in this era. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone really wanting that (or the Starfleet Academy)
I think Georgiou is a great character and I'm open to seeing what they do. If they go down the route of focusing on her re-building Section 31 it might be interesting but I would have much preferred a more modern take on it. Say, a long trek set in the time of the Dominion war.
At least we're getting something new whilst the mess that is Paramount sorts itself out. I

given that Geogiou has already gone through lots of timeywimey stuff it could easily be set during the Dominion Wars - probably won't be, but stillI think Georgiou is a great character and I'm open to seeing what they do. Loved the Gorn epi now it's a case of finding out who out of La'an Noonien-Singh, Dr. Joseph M'Benga, Erica Ortegas or Sam Kirk survive...
If M'Benga goes it does give an easy 'in' for Bones to make an appearance (be a shame as M'Benga really is good)
If Ortegas goes that let's in Sulu
La'an could be offed in favour of Chekov
I missed this post back in December but there's a few things happening here.If M'Benga goes it does give an easy 'in' for Bones to make an appearance (be a shame as M'Benga really is good)

Unless SNW is going to pull a JJ stylee alternate timeline thingy, certain things have to happen because we've seen them in TOS.
M'Benga appears briefly in TOS so he has to survive,
In the 2nd TOS pilot, Where no man has gone before, Kirk is the Captain.
The Doctor is Dr Mark Piper. We don't see Bones till The Man Trap so no easy in for Bones whilst Pike is Captain.
Sulu appeared in the second pilot as the ship's physicist.
Ortegas ultimately needs to go somewhere before Kirk takes over but Sulu can't replace her on the helm.
Chekov doesn't appear until series 2.
La'an is head of security. A post that disappears under Kirk.
Chekov is an ensign & ships Navigator so can't replace La'an
