This, a million times this!

Great actor, brings some really good depth in to characters when he's allowed but he's a bloody awful "action" hero type lead.

Steven Seagal comes across as a psychopath if you read some of the stories about him.

Not sure if it's true or not, but the story about him being choked out and soiling himself after challenging a stuntman is possibly my favourite.
Yes, its true, he's very wierd and a nice person.

I have that info direct from someone that knew him reasonably well. One of my late mother's good friends that she had known from back in the 1950's when they worked together was the close cousin of Kelly Le Brock's mother (who my Mum also knew back in the 50's when she was a model)
Marion was close to Kelly and when her and Segal would come to London when they were married, they would always meet up with Marion and spend time with her......she didn't have a good word to say about Segal at all.
I don't know whether the story about Seagal soiling himself is true or not, but it's no big deal. Happens in combat sports every now and then.

Gerard Butler, in no shape or form does he look like an action star.

There is a story about Segal and Van Damme. Apparently VD challenged Segal to a fight, and Segal ran away when confronted by him.

Gene LeBell is alleged to have rendered Seagal unconscious twice on a movie set. Seagal denies this, obviously, but as Chuck Noris, and the dark, are scared of Judo Gene, I'm minded to believe it....

Edit, sorry did not realise this had JUST been posted.

Heres 2...action star is debateble but theyve had action roles which haven't gone very well....

Kevin Costner...waterworld

Patrick Swayze...roadhouse

both utterly terrible but for some unknwon reason thats a good thing
Roadhouse is excellent
I beg to differ. In fact, I dont beg, I just differ. What a load of old toffee. And speaking abaht stoopid cockney lingo, how many times will Craig Fairbrass play the same character in different films. Looks the part for a top of the pops dancer but he is consistently pish in his later roles....

It might not be accurate, but it's still awesome.

I am inclined to agree. I do, however, believe the LeBell story, it seems to have a few witnesses and relatively well documented. LeBell, gent that he is, does not make comment on it, which of its true, makes me like him even more...

It's Sylvester Stallone who tells everyone this story

Stallone said:
But I remember once, at my home in Miami, I believe it was in ’96 or’97, Van Damme was there with Seagal, Willis, Schwarzenegger, Shaquille O’Neal, Don Johnson and Madonna… it was a heck of a party. Van Damme was tired of Seagal saying he could kick his ass and went right up to him and offered him the chance to step outside so he could wipe the floor with him, or should I say wipe the backyard with him. Seagal made some excuse and left. His destination was some Ocean Drive nightclub in Miami. Van Damme, who was completely berserk, tracked him down and again offered him a fight, and again Seagal pulled a Houdini. Who would win? I have to say I believe Van Damme was just too strong and Seagal wanted no part of it. That’s just my opinion.

Seagal is/was a bloody good martial artist, lets not forget that.

OK, I'm not doubting the veracity of the claim by Stallone ....however "..it was one heck of a party" reduces the seriousness of the challenge to macho posturing. The truth of the matter is that none of these martial art film superstars would ever fight each other.

Looking through modern goggles and after watching commando maybe its Arnie.
Wonder how many needy gullible women have been strung along by a psychopathic fantasist inspired by this film.

Commando is just a poor film if you try to take it seriously - which I did on first viewing.

I agree. I was just asserting Seagal was bloody good at his thing and personally, I always enjoyed his fight scenes much more than jumping spinning back kicks and all that kickboxer bollix!!
