I’m not a fan of Eurovision, but I genuinely don’t think I laughed once.
Some of his stuff is quite funny, but the roles where he adopts a slight learning difficulty persona, such as this and step brothers I don’t like.
I don’t think the hdr helped things either. The main Characters looked very old. The Iceland scenes (if it was filmed there) looked good though.
Shame, as I fancied some mindless nonsense and found it very unfunny.
Did you miss the beginning when they watch ABBA win? The characters are old. If anything Rachel Mcadam is a decade too youngSome of his stuff is quite funny, but the roles where he adopts a slight learning difficulty persona, such as this and step brothers I don’t like.

The one thing that annoyed me was the Russian singer saying something like. The UK always gets nil points, as nobody likes them. When clearly it was being held in the UK, so they must have won it the year before.
Sometimes winning countries forfeit hosting the event the year after and another country hosts it insteadjsf said:

That’s was the only bit I thought was funny.
The actor is British too. Eurovision was hosted in Edinburgh post not winning too.
Really enjoying this film and it has some great Europop songs. I can see this being a cult classic.
i thought it was rubbish too, usually a fan of ferrell and his stupid characters, but this was just crap.
doesn’t help that I live in edinburgh, they conveniently move the hydro over from glasgow and stick it at the end of north bridge. also when they go and sit on the bench with the amazing view over the city, then turns into the view from the russians castle.

I think it is a fun, enjoyable movie.
It is too long and could easily have had another ten minutes cut out of it. Pacing is important for movies.
Will Ferrell is doing his standard man-child act, but has brought better energy to it in the past. I think Rachel Mcadams is the saviour of this movie as she brings a lot of warmth to her role. If a comedy cannot be consistently funny it needs to have heart and I think it has that with her and a love for Eurovision itself.

Laughing at the Scottish/Edinburgh geography was probably the best bits. But happens all the time in TV/film world, most of the audience of any given film don't know any better and the rest get a chuckle.doesn’t help that I live in edinburgh, they conveniently move the hydro over from glasgow and stick it at the end of north bridge. also when they go and sit on the bench with the amazing view over the city, then turns into the view from the russians castle.
Didn't check the credits - Can Rachel McAdams sing or was there a talented voice over?
