Happy. Ex cop turned hitman gets a flying animated unicorn as an imaginary friend.

Aggretsuko. Japanese animation. A red panda works in accounts and hates her job, after bad days she goes home via a karaoke bar and hires a room to scream out death metal songs.

Final Space. Animation. Useless astronaut Gary befriends a planet destroying alien wanted by an evil overlord.

All on Netflix.

I recently discovered DARK. German sci fi thriller. One of the best things I have watched in some time. Although it is starting to get quite hard to follow now I am into season 3.

As previously mentioned Preacher was excellent and mongrels hilarious.

EDIT. mongrels wont stay capitalised confused even after a full stop or new paragraph, strange.

Another thumbs up for Gomorrah. Brilliant stuff that leaves me wanting a stiff drink after each episode.

DARK is amazing indeed. Very highly recommended.

For those who like Gomorrah -> Suburra - Blood on Rome (Italian crime show) on Netflix is really good too.

mongrels deserves a far wider audience, a puppetry comedy about an urban fox and his mates.
Agreed, very, very funny.

Stressed Eric was another one I loved.

The Americans is the only recent TV show I've watched from beginning to end, Soviet spies in the US during the 80s and 90s, excellent.

Not sure how wide spread it is, have the film but still not watched the film.
At the end of season 1 vampire gathering the cast from the film are there.

Anyway, Counterpart. J L Simmons is a dull civil servant doing a dull job who meets his super-secret agent counterpart from an alternate reality. Not like anything else I’ve watched.

This is woefully overlooked by many. It's a slow burner with a dull title but IMHO is up there with The Wire, The Sopranos etc as the very best of American series.

Oz the prison drama https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0118421/?ref_=nv_sr_srs...

I thought this was brilliant but didn't know anyone else that watched it at the time.
Maybe as channel 4 used to put it on at like 2 in the morning when it first came out.

I'm not sure if many people have seen it or whether it become popular with the rise of Netflix etc.

Someone above mentioned Final Space which I think is really good too and not as popular as it should be

Another vote for Gomorrah. It's in my top 10 TV shows of all time. Absolutely brutal, gripping, tense and really well put together.

Strangely enough I finished The Wire last night after a 5 season binge. I could never get into it at the time but everyone kept saying it's one of the very best shows so I thought I should give it another chance. A pretty good show but not in the same league as Sopranos and Breaking Bad. A decent watch once you get past the awful American accents on the English actors and the fact you have to accept you're not going to pick up on a quarter of what the local street gangs are saying with their slang and odd accents.

Anyway, back on topic and back in time. A comedy sketch show called Absolutely which ran from '89 to '93. It was superb but very few people I mention it to who have ever heard of it. Mainly Scottish cast and some great characters and sketches.

Wellington paranormal? I like it.

It's a ride-along with the somewhat inept police unit dealing with vampires/werewolves/demonic possession etc. in downtown Wellington NZ.

If we’re going back a few years, The Sarah Connor Chronicles was much better than most of the Terminator films. Lena Headey trying to save the world as terminators and resistance fighters keep coming back through time. Summer Glau was excellent as the terminator sent to protect John Connor.
Seems no one actually watched it, possibly because of the modest TV budget which meant it was focused more on the story. Cancelled on a major cliffhanger at the end of season 2.
