what 'unknown'/cult series do you like
Discussion
I think it was mentioned earlier on, but I really enjoyed "Studio 60 on the sunset strip". Not sure it counts as a "cult" series, and maybe if the writers strike hadn't killed it off, it wouldn't have stayed unknown. Another series where I bought it on DVD and have never watched it, similar to "Capital City" which also sits in a drawer waiting for that time when I can get around to watching it. If only there was some way I had nothing to do and nowhere to go for a few months, I'd get through some of these things.

Older one here. Birds of Prey. Sadly only 1 season. But I thought it was quite good. Especially for when it was done.

I was about to add that I agreed and really enjoyed this, but I was thinking of "Bird of Prey", the early 80s BBC hacker conspiracy thing with Richard Griffiths who went on to "Pie in the Sky".https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birds_of_Prey_(TV_...

Did anyone watch Emergence last year? Sci-fi mystery about a female police captain who finds a girl in the wreckage of a plant crash.
I really liked it. Unfortunately cancelled due to poor ratings.
I don't remember it (but if it wasn't on "normal" TV I wouldn't have seen it) but I am quite disturbed by how many short-lived TV series I've watched fairly recently and now can't remember anything much about. Some of them were a bit sci-fi, on channels like "Pick" and similar.I really liked it. Unfortunately cancelled due to poor ratings.

Sorkin's earlier (pre-West Wing) show 'SportsNight' was very similar (behind the scenes of a sports news show rather than a comedy show) and is well worth checking out. (It was broadcast in the UK on the short lived 'ABC1' channel).

Yeah, there was a thread about it, like you I really enjoyed it, it was refreshing to have a main lead that wasn't a stick thin stunner and was a bit more real because of it. The acting wasn't bad, a bit iffy in places, but not bad. Shame it got canned.I really liked it. Unfortunately cancelled due to poor ratings.
I enjoyed Kingdom Hospital, some good scenes and good fun to watch in the dark with your missus. Same goes for Haunting of Hill House, despite a relatively lame script in places.
Gomorrah is just excellent and well worth watching, so I echo the sentiments expressed by many posting here.
Generation War was a German perspective of WW2 and although only one season (as was Kingdom Hospital) it was very enjoyable.
Das Boot another great "cult" series, but pretty well known so not sure if it qualifies.

進撃の巨人 / Attack on Titan. Probably the most popular anime in recent years but one I had avoided watching (had seen first episode a long time back but it hadn’t grabbed me). Thought I should give it a proper go - partly egged on by my daughter - now half way through series 3 and I understand what the fuss is about. Only regret is that I perhaps should have waited until after the upcoming final season had ended as now going to be stuck watching it every week, rather than being able to binge it.

'Mr Don and Mr George' - a spin off from sketches on Saturday Night Live (UK) in the '90s. Surreal, but IMO many gags as clever as those in Father Ted (I just came from that thread) and a great pairing in Jack Docherty and Moray Hunter.
Wasn't that a spin off from Absolutely?AlexS said:

Absolutely's Stoneybridge town council :
"Here's our new promotional vido!"
"Och, Willie, it's not VI-DO, it's V-DAY-O!"
Who Dares Wins : Tony Robinson, later of Time Team, appearing stark bk naked in front of a live TV audience in the Emperor's New Clothes sketch.

I did like Who Dares Wins. One of their panda sketches springs to mind. Panda approaches a man sitting in the audience: “Is that your girlfriend?”
Man: “Yes.”
Panda: “Mate with her! Go on, mate with her! See, it’s not that easy, is it?”
Just watched the first episode of Tehran, which is a new Israeli TV series set mostly in, er, Iran's capital.
Good set up, it's a contemporary thriller, nice maintenance of tension. Can't really give any plot lines without spoilers, but if you liked Homeland (early series) or the Americans you should enjoy this.
Hebrew / Farsi / English and subtitles so you have to concentrate.

Edge of Darkness. The original 1985 one with Bob Peck and Joe Don Baker, music by Eric Clapton.
Bird of Prey. Richard Griffiths. 1982.
The Beiderbecke Affair / Tapes / Connection. James Bolam, Barbara Flynn. 1985+
All cold-war intrigue themed, but in 3 very different ways. The Beiderbecke trilogy in particular being witty and has the benefit of Barbara Flynn.
Talking of which:
A Very Peculiar Practice - Set in the medical centre of a university in the early 80s. Slightly surreal and quite dark at times.
Bird of Prey. Richard Griffiths. 1982.

All of those were very good. I would say Edge of Darkness was one of the best things British TV had done at that point. Bird of Prey. Richard Griffiths. 1982.
