Raised By Wolves - new Ridley Scott Sci-Fi
Discussion
Binge watched the first three episodes.
I really liked it so far. Great camera work and sound track, and good actors.
Loved the atheism versus religious fanatics story-line, with hints of Oblivion, Prometheus, and Pitch Black. Glad its is produced by HBO, as they allow non-linear storytelling and we get to explore the character arcs as the early episodes progress. A slow start in the 1st and most of the second episode, then... Bam...
Seems that Ridley Scott only directed the first two episodes, and then his son Luke takes over, the handover worked well and the third episode was seamless. Forth episode released tomorrow.

Yep, definitely went full-on Prometheus as you say. The last episode was definitely self-indulgent, and I think they could've paced the story better and filled it out more for the viewer if they'd done maybe 12 episodes instead of 10. So much stuff unanswered and unresolved, and so much WTF in the last episode.
I actually felt empathy for Mother and her journey/path, and a little bit for Father also. So I felt empathy for the 2 droids, but not the human characters -- likely a deliberate intention I would say.
Having Travis Fimmel play the role of Marcus brought about too much of a sense of deja vu for me. He pretty much went on the same character journey of the duality of fate/religions/reality and that leading him into madness and delusions. A la what he did as Ragnar in Vikings. He does it exceptionally well, but bloody hell his story could've simply been dubbed Ragnar in Space.

Watched Ep9 this morning, so just the last one to go later, but have felt its been going up its arse the last few episodes.
Finished it last night - meh. Liked the first half of the series, then it just went stupid, and full of "but you wouldnt do that!" moments.I liked Travis in Vikings, but after watching this i wonder whether he wasnt actually acting as Ragnar, and thats just how he is normally (squinty eye, head tilt, half smile - and repeat).
If this was based on a book, i'd feel confident that the subsequent series would reach a satisfactory conclusion. However, its almost like the writers spent 5 episodes crafting an interesting situation, then smoked a bong and watched Prometheus and thought "wouldnt it be cool if X & Y happened" and knocked out Eps 6-10 in 5 minutes.
I fear that S2+ will now have to come up with semi-logical explanations for all the weirdness at the end, and im not sure i can be arsed with that.
Whens the next series of The Expanse out?
