Great film, as are most of the other Ealing comedies.

Got my arm twisted into watching La La Land. Wouldn't have picked it if left to my own devices but it's good. Standardish love's true course tale but can't fault the quality of the production. I'm starting to think Damien Chazelle might be a bit of a jazz head.
I never expected to like La La Land as much as I did but it gets under your skin, plus as you say it looks great.

Ridiculous gangster film that should be awful. I have not laughed so much in ages!! It was terrible but so funny.

The list of people making brief appearances is crazy.

8 Rico's out of 10 Kane's
Is this on TV anywhere ?
Came out on Sky Premier this weekend.

Fantastic film with some great laughs.

The Lavender hill mob still has me laughing & I must have seen it a good 10 times.

Yeah, another great. If you pinned me down, I'd probably pick Kind hearts & coronets but they're all very so good.

This Is The End.

A fun, brain out type of film. Not one for young kids due to certain subject matters - the "I'll cum wherever I want" argument scene.

Some great little surprising cameos and good gory moments.

A nice 7/10 from me.

IIRC, it took about 5 days before I got the music out of my head.

Hilarious film that often gets overlooked and some of the stories around the cameos are brilliant. My favourite........ Where Michael Cera slaps Rhianna's arse, he asked her if he could do it for real and she said "Sure as long as I can slap you for real". He agreed and told her to go for it. They did 3/4 takes with the last one being in the film where she absolutely sent him flying rofl This also has one of the best-ending scenes of any movie, I remember seeing it in the cinema and the audience loving it.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Took the kids to the pictures yesterday to see this after a lot of nagging from them. I usually hate remakes or sequels of any film 40yrs after the original etc, especially a childhood favourite of mine, so I wasn't holding out much hope. I'd not seen Afterlife either so wasn't sure if I'd be up to speed, but I don't think it mattered.

I can't put my finger on it, but the whole flow of the film just felt off, like a load of scenes thrown together. The 1st hour was soooo slow.
Some good amusing callbacks to the original films though, which had me imitating the viral Leonardo Di Caprio meme/gif, according to my kids.

Overall, I think it's worth a watch with the family.

Civil War

I haven't seen this mentioned yet (although may well have missed it) and it is in cinemas now.

Really good. Much, much better than I thought it would be having seen the trailer (read the User reviews on IMDB instead).

Kirsten Dunst in the first "mature" role I can recall seeing her in is great. It is about journalists in the middle of a civil war in the USA, but the war is for scene-setting / context rather than being the whole story. The wild swings from hilarity to we-are-about-to-die feel wholly realistic.

It is true of many films, but this really is a big-screen film.

I started to watch Barbie as I’d heard so many good reviews of it. So far it’s extremely painful…

I’m only up to the part where things start to go wrong for her, does it pick up after then?

I near burst laughing at Danny McBride's gimp.

Part of me would suggest seeing it through but if you're not getting on with it at this point it's probably not for you.

By contrast, I loved it and thought it was brilliant at that point so I'm not sure the rest will change your mind dramatically.

I absolutely loved Barbie but didn't at all get on with La La Land.

Me and Mrs stemll did Barbenheimer a couple of weeks back. There was a clear distinction between who liked which film smile

I thought Barbie was ridiculous drivel (but I appreciate that I am very much not the target demographic) and she thought Oppenheimer was too slow and boring. I got a "What! How?" when I told her there was still an hour left, two hours in smile

Watched Luca at the Odeon at the weekend with my daughter. Like Soul, it passed us by during Covid and it's not one she's ever picked on Disney+

More recent Pixar stuff has been a bit hit and miss but I quite enjoyed this one. Really should have checked the Dons fixture list before booking it though as the car park was a little busy with Mansfield away supporters smile

Also appreciated them showing For the Birds before it. One of my favourite Pixar shorts

I still listen to the soundtrack as a guilty pleasure. Actually there’s two versions, one with singing and one more Jazzy and instrumental.
