The Outlaw Josey Wales
I was flicking through YouTube. Someone has posted all of the Clint's westerns - full end to end films. I started to watch on my PC then decided to go downstairs and watch it properly on high quality copy I have on my big screen TV. It's a masterpiece - possibly the best western ever. It feels like it contains several stories all in one because it moves through that time and across locations, meeting all sorts of characters along the way.
My fav film ever is The Good The Bad and The Ugly - again for the way the story moves through so many locations, painting America as an almost unlimited piece of land, but also because of the music. I'll admit GBU is more of a pop-film than Josey Wales which *really* tells a story right the way through to its satisfying end. The cinematography is utterly spectacular. One day, I'll try to visit the unpopulated mid-western part of America. In fact there were some scenes in the first series of Westworld where they captured huge vistas that must still exist over there. Josey Wales - not a single scene wasted.
Jeremiah Johnson is also a very good thinking man's western.I was flicking through YouTube. Someone has posted all of the Clint's westerns - full end to end films. Interesting factoid that I found whilst reading-up on the film, Clint Eastwood was offered the role but turned it down to do Dirty Harry. I love Clint Eastwood films but they do have a predictability about them (which I like - partly the reason I watch them) but I think perhaps this would have turned-out a very different film had he been involved. With Redford in the starring seat, I could not predict how things would end-up, and perhaps it was all the better for that.

Jolt 2021
I’m usually happy to watch Beckinsale in anything, especially where she drives a Mclaren 600LT but this one really was unimaginable bilge.

Manual gearbox on a 600lt ? Erm, nope.
Boy (2010)
On Netflix here in NZ but not sure about elsewhere.
Earlier film by (and starring) Taika Waititi (who did Hunt for the Wilder People and Jo Jo Rabbit).
Gentle comedy/coming of age film. I suspect some autobiographical elements. If you liked his others films you will most probably like this one too.

VFW - 2019
Popped up on Netflix recommend.
80s retro, grindhouse type film.
A new drug has people turning into crazy zombie like addicts.
After her sister is killed by the boss, she decides to get revenge by sneaking into his place and stealing all his gear.
Making a break for it she runs into a nearby bar to hide which is owned by an old army vet who's there with his mates/VFW's (veterans of foreign wars).
Boss sends his zombie like addicts to retrieve said drugs and we get a bunch of these addicts Vs the old army vets who are protecting the girl.
Gory and violent film starring a bunch of actors who you recognise from bigger projects but not enough to know their real names.
If you want a fun, brain off, simple plot/dialogue, limbs chopped off, blood spraying everywhere and heads caved in type film then you'll enjoy this.

Lock stock and 2 smoking barrels.
I was in the process of giving a mate my old DVDs when I spotted this. I’d not seen it for a good 15-20 years. I’m not sure if it was the very early two-sided DVD but it looked like it was shot on an original iPhone with a budget of £50.
Still worth a watch though.

Goodfellas.
Never seen it before. It was good.
Wait what? How have you missed it! Next you'll be telling us you haven't seen Casino, The Untouchables or Heat. Never seen it before. It was good.
I've never even heard of Casino.

The Hitmans Bodyguard
So generic and by the numbers I actually found myself thinking that I'd seen it before. The traitor in the midst was so obvious he might as well have been wearing a t shirt saying "I am an evil mole!", loads of expendable terrorists getting shot with cgi blood, Ryan Reynolds looking gormless because he's in love, Samuel L Jackson saying "Muddy Funster" every other word, the way the big bad evil got his comeuppance. Wash and repeat.
The only good things were Jackson & Reynolds comic timing, the stunt work was good and the European locations were different for this kind of film.
