Murder on the Orient Express - the Albert Finney version. It proved to me what a pile of pretentious wk the recent Kenneth Branagh version is.

2) 'The Magnificent Seven' 1960 with Yul Brynner and an all star cast.

Filmed in Panavision with that unforgettable Bernstein score.

The Seven Samurai US rip off remake it may be, but it hits nearly all the right spots with those hopelessly inaccurate revolvers.

Great cast, locations, story, music etc etc.

It's rightly IMO regarded as a classic and worthy of a rewatch with adult eyes if the last time you saw it was as a kid.

Struggling stereotypical Mexican farmers on a budget hire moody gunslingers to protect them from marauding bandits led by the brilliant Eli Wallach.

It's a magnificent 7 film stars out of 10 dusty tumbleweed cliches from me.
It's a 9.9 from me. Virtually faultless. Poor old Brad Dexter, the one nobody remembers.shoot

Da 5 Bloods.

I don't say this lightly. One of the worst films I have ever seen. If at least one person reads this and doesn't waste their time then I will be happy.

Yeah, it's toss isn't it?

There's something about Netflix films, they've very good ones, and lots of crap ones, but I don't think they've ever made a Great one.

A lot of toss, and I looked forward to it at the time.

New Borat film.

Still peddling a now very tired format.

One well-flogged horse out of ten village animals.
Zero for me, utter bilge.

The Irishman wasn’t too dire.

Fishermen's Friends

"Based on a true story", always annoys me, in this case it appears to mean that Padstow exists and a group a fishermen from there got a record deal, but the rest appears to be fiction. However it's a decent feel good family movie about a bunch of fishermen singing sea shanties.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) DVD

Troubled, hospitalised teens are latest targets of the nightmare terrorizer. Battles back on to stop Freddie Kreuger (again).

Third in the franchise & best of the bunch IMO - years since I've watched it.

Good cast & setting and some really cool (still) effects. Also features a rare spot of a MK1 Ford Capri in a US film.

Is this World's End the Edgar Wright film?

The Bad Samaritan - a dodgy car valet breaks into his customers houses while they're in the restaurant, steals minor items that they won't notice, picks the wrong one when he breaks into David Tennant's house, bad things happen to him because of what he sees. Not bad, though I did jump past some of the middle bit.

It's the weakest of the 3 Cornetto films, but it's still alright. There are worse films.

Yeah, maybe the best film they've ever made. Sits in the 'Very good' category for me, but not great. I've never wanted to watch it again, maybe because it goes on for about a fortnight.

I liked The Ballad of Buster Scruggs too, but some of the episodes were a lot weaker than the better ones.

The Lighthouse.

I haven't quite finished processing this yet. It might take some time!
I can't remember a film I've seen in the last 10 years with better cinematography.
Definitely a very marmite film, and like Joker, although I thought it was excellent, I'm not sure I'd watch again.
One of the last films I saw in the cinema prior to lockdown, quite a journey it takes you on! I agree the cinematography is absolutely stunning.

I loved seeing it on the big screen but I have no desire to watch it again (see also: Midsommar)
I have to say a big thank you for bringing this onto my radar - I've only watched half of it so far, but a refreshing take....and I might not find it a masterpiece by the end, but definitely good to find something "different" - and apart from some slightly weird accents well acted by the two protagonists. Well worth seeking out!

The Finest Hours - 8/10 Really enjoyed it, good production value, a true story about a crazy coastguard rescue. Surprised to learn after watching it was a Disney.
