Once Upon A Time in Hollywood

Finally watched it last night after recording it ages ago - Hmm, a bit dull but stylish at the same time. The ending could be seen by some to be in poor taste as well. Definite slow burner.

I recorded Blazing Saddles on Friday night on BBC4 and watched it last night. A very funny film but some of the language may offend people. It's directed by Mel Brooks and stars Gene Wilder and Cleavon Little. The baked bean eating scene is legendary in cinema circles.
Despite the use of language that might be considered unacceptable, it is a fundamentally anri-racist film and merely holds a mirror up to the racist attitudes and language of the time whilst poking fun at small-minded bigots.

It's also a very funny film.

What was possibly bad taste?

Quatermass and the Pit (1967), recorded from “Legend” (previously the Horror Channel).

Strange missile discovered in a building site unleashes unexpected evidence and power.

Entertaining 60s horror, nice slow burner with a fun climax.

Utterly terrifying when you are an 8 yr old who has sneaked downstairs to watch laugh

We watched War Dogs over the weekend based on the recommendations here.

We wanted a "throw on and don't care about" movie so wasn't expecting anything great - we were wrong. Really enjoyed watching it, wasn't 100% sure where it was going, the actors did a great job, the length was just right...

Heartily recommended.

and on that theme, i watched Dambusters on Saturday and realised they have a 'woke' version where the dog has been renamed and actors voices dubbed to be called Trigger.

Film was made 67 years ago FFS.

Rewriting the history of a brutal murder of several people as a twist ending in a movie.

I never really found the humour in this one. It just didn't tickle me.

Though I did chuckle when he punches a horse in the face!
I watched Blazing Saddles a few months ago on one of the streaming services, however the horse punch was cut out, but the many N bombs were all present.

Obviously PETA carry more weight than BLM.

Does that really matter? Top stand up comedians joke about any subject after a suitable time and audience’s love it, (well mainly in the UK where we have humour pegged).

I remember the Tate murders from when it happened and yes, it was brutal. Probably less brutal than the mass school killings that we still have…

Sadly, most people won’t appreciate the changes as the have no idea about the history. I have had to explain that to everyone who has seen the film, even 50 year + people!

Still enjoyed the film immensely wink

I've still not watched it for this exact reason. I hated IG because of the "yeee-haw we killed Hitler" ending so wasn't about to watch another episode of "Tarantino fixes history".

I had a weird hankering to (re)watch Rat Race (Amazon)... there were some moments had me in tears barely able to breathe. No it's not arty or original but it just struck the right nerve (in my case the cow scene)

,“Once upon a Time in Hollywood and Pulp Fiction“ are streets ahead of IGB. Just my opinion.

You do know movies are make believe and are usually based in some way on past events, right?

Just watched The Gentlemen, the Guy Ritchie film. Very enjoyable and a clever/different way of telling the story.

Even Hugh Grant was good!

Hugh Grant was brilliant, my favourite character in the film.
