I really liked that film. An entirely plausible storyline.

Fall

Very good. Castaway meets Die Hard meets Touching the Void.

8 carabiners out of 10. Recommended to cure fear of heights. Or maybe not.

Having not sat down for a film for ages we saw Everything Everywhere.... a page or so back, then Prey last night and then tonight:

The Adam Project. Treat it like a kids film and it's ok-ish, my 11 year old could not get his head around the crappy explanation of the older Adam not remembering the events he was having with the younger Adam and it went downhill from there with both of us just pointing out all the plot holes. 5.5 improbable wormholes out of 10, bring back decent kids films please.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

On Channel 5.

I had an inkling that this was a Guy Ritchie film, and that is was panned upon release. However given the subject matter it was viewed as a 'daytime' film where standards are a little lower and we go for light-hearted stuff; it was listed as featuring Jude Law and Charlie Hunnam, so how bad could it be?

It is really quite bad, and most of it is the direction, along with production/editing and acting; and it's one where you realise this from the first few seconds. I had no particular issue with the story, but it almost came across as a copycat Ritchie film, a little like those Asylum ones, except with some very well known actors.

6 out of 12 Knights of the Round Table. A film has to be really quite bad for me to mark lower than 5/10, and really very good for me to mark over 7/10.

I watched 2 films on Netflix this week.
First , Me Time with Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Hart . They must have been absolutely desperate for the money. I had to keep watching just to see if it could get any worse.

Second, Waiting with Ryan Reynolds. Just dreadful. Again, had to keep watching to fully appreciate it awfulness.

I'm afraid to say that anything with Ryan Reynolds or Kevin Hart and, to a lesser extent, Mark Wahlberg in it usually has me reaching for either the off button or a puke bag.

I'll give you the first 2 apart from Deadpool.

I quite like Wahlberg though, he's been in some great films.
Shooter
Lone Survivor
Departed
Patriots Day
Ted
The Fighter
The Other Guys
2 Guns
Three Kings
Four Brothers
Instant Family
Deep water Horizon

The list goes on, he's quite varied and does good at the serious stuff and comedy.
I'd say he's done more good films than crap ones compared to the other two.

I thought it was great too, in fact I am pretty sure it is actually a documentary and shows the real story behind Lincoln and the US civil war 😊

Kinda like Wahlberg too, generally is in movies that are fine and pass an hour or so.
I did turn off me time last night after an hour.

Luckiest Girl Alive (2022)

Traumatic high school shooting film, aka ‘Gossip Girl’ with Mila Kunis

https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/f...

Plus points:
Mila Kunis
Mila Kunis
Mila Kunis
The younger Mila looks a bit like Raducanu.

Other points:

Mildly Traumatic.
Not enough trigger warnings for snowflakes…

On Netflix out this week I believe…

Watched it yesterday, it brings nothing new, I've seen the same story line and characters multiple times.

The Torture Report

I guess we know most of it already, for anyone who paid attention when the whole "US Govt were involved in torture" thing...but thought it was nicely done.

Very late to the party, I watched Top Gun - Maverick after cynicism grown from thinking the first one was st back in the late 80s.

Thoroughly enjoyed it in a predictable-buddy-story sort of way.

Was it only me that thought the whole final mission was just a remake of Star Wars ANH?

Eternals

I quite like the early MCU films but this felt like shoehorning another completely different comic series in. Bizarrely I think it would have been a lot better as a TV series or series of films, as introducing a group of characters, explaining thier background, purpose, several thousand years of history and ending thier story all in one was just silly with caracters explaining the plot to other characters!
