This is Christmas Sky Movies

Simple, predictable (but not as bad as a Ricky Gervais rom com!).

Awwww, I enjoyed that smile
Same here, enjoyed it beer

If anyone doesn't want any Christmas schmaltz then don't watch.

At this time of year it's great in small doses smile.

Not unwatchable but by christ it was so twee and woke I thought it must be made by Disney.

Anyone know any 2022 Christmas movies worth a watch?
Your Christmas or Mine on Amazon I quite enjoyed, not too sickly. Has Asa Butterfield in who I have more respect for post- Sex Education.

McFarland, USA. Inspiring if formulaic story about an Amerocan teacher who moves to the small town of McFarland with a predominately Mexican population and introduces a cross country running programme. Based on a true story, eminently watchable Kevin Costner plays the teacher. Was on BBC2 so maybe get it on iplayer? We enjoyed it easy watch
I saw that a while back and I agree it's very good. Quite similar to Coach Carter, which is also based on a true story.

If you have Sky Movies you don’t need to rent it as it’s available for free. Personally, other than it’s too long, I can’t agree with the comments above and have to say I thought it one of the better Batman films. Each to their own though, eh?
I'm sitting somewhere on the fence on this one. It was definitely way too long though, could have easily lost an hour to the cutting room floor. I didn't mind the slower pace and the darkness of it all. I didn't even mind Pattinson's moody portrayal. But ultimately, I think that Bale's Batman just felt more like the Batman somehow.

Zoe Kravitz of course, was very enjoyable to watch biggrin

I just didn't find it 'dark'. It tried hard to be dark and moody but in my view, failed miserably. It almost seemed like it was taking the pee out of itself trying so hard.

Someone here or on another thread compared it to the film, Joker. However, I thought Joker was good!

And yes, they could have lost an hour too.

I quite liked The Batman but it's not a film I'd watch again, unlike the Christian Bale versions which have "repeat watchability".

Trading Places

Absolutely brilliant ‘80s comedy starring Eddie Murphy, Dan Ackroyd et al, including a young, gorgeous Jamie Lee Curtis.

If, by any chance, you haven’t seen it: Two trader brothers embark on a social experiment by swapping an upcoming trader’s life with a street beggar, and much merriment ensues.

No moment is wasted, every line is spot on and the (slightly confusing) climax ties everything up neatly. Plus it’s set at Christmas time.

Just a perfect 10/10

Yes, Film4 have been working their way through all of them over the past few days, starting from the very first film.

I happened to hit Series Link on the first one and all the subsequent ones have been slowly filling up my Sky box's HDD. smile

My favourites by a country mile are 2 and 3, preferably watched as one. But they all have their positives (even 5).

Undiscovered Country is class.

The TNG films, First contact excepted, were generally a bit gash.

Thor: Love and Thunder

I'm sure there will be a separate thread for this somewhere but Jeeze, that was dire!!

I'm a Marvel fanboy and although the Thor movies have never been at the top of my favs list I've enjoyed them. At times this felt like I was watching a spoof Marvel thing. Poor. Really poor.

Yeah, Marvel Phase 4 was gash. Roll on Phase 5.

In terms of what I have gotten through recently.

The usual suspects - 4k bluray remaster - I could watch the first 45 minutes of this film on a loop forever. The re-master is epic. 9/10

Planes, Trains & Automobiles - 4k Blu-ray remaster - yes there's some serious processing for the indoor scenes but everything else is gold. 8.5/10.

Amen to that. I love Studio Ghibli.

I have a cold too and I don't even know how I caught it. I rarely go out of the house and I always socially distance when I do.

Been floored with a flu type bug for last few days, feeling better now but still can't breathe properly and keep getting coughing fits. Not much cop when yer a teacher!

Violent Night at the cinema this afternoon. Where do I start? It's pretty bad but a little bit funny at the same time.
4/10
4/10 maybe a bit harsh, I enjoyed it, probably about a 5.5/6 for what it was.
With hindsight you're probably right smile
I liked it. It's a blatant mash up of Die Hard and Home Alone with added Santa, but it was a fun one.

I think they must had done some market research and decided to target the under 12s with this movie.

All about maximising box office takings.

Don't forget to watch Coming to America straight after for the link to Trading Places and also it's just another classic.
