Just re-watched The American on Netflix. Absolutely brilliant. One of George Clooney's best films in my opinion.

Surprisingly explicit. Don't watch it with your kids or your parents. Just saying.
I will add it to my list as it sounds intriguing, a 35% audience score on RT suggests it is not for everyone though.
It's a great film. I don't think it was ever one of his "bigger" movies but I agree, it's my favourite Clooney picture. It's beautifully shot with great use of colours. I love how some scenes are all yellow hues and some are all green. Pretty subtle at times for the type of movie it is. It's no Bourne Identity but all the better for going the low key route.

Rebecca (2020 film)

Based on the 1938 novel Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, the film stars Lily James, Armie Hammer, Kristin Scott Thomas, Keeley Hawes, Ann Dowd, and Sam Riley.

Good acting and period production values and a great Mrs Danvers!

The earlier 1940 Hitchcock version is obviously a classic in it's own right..

But this is a good modern remake. 8 scheming housekeepers out of 10 naïve young brides.

Star Trek: Generations - what a steaming turn that was. Data and his memory chip should have been chucked into a escape pod and jettisoned, I nearly threw my coffee mug through the TV. SFX haven't held up well either frown

Project Wolf Hunting
S. Korean film

Some very dangerous criminals are being taken back to Korea from the Philippines via a cargo ship.

After they manage to escape in the ensuing riot with the police, something else manages to escape which is much worse than anyone of them could imagine.

It's kind of like Con Air mixed with The Witch Subversion, along with bits of Under Siege, Alien and Predator thrown in.

There were a few dumb decisions by the characters making you think wtf, so it could have been better in that aspect, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Very brutal and lots of blood and gore.

6.5/10

Having watched Gone Fishing with my my teenager daughter then introduced to her to The Detectorists in advance of the Boxing Day special, she wanted to watch something else in the same genre.

So we watched The Trip and The Trip to Italy over the past couple of nights (other sources/yify)

Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon improv/Michael Caine/Sean Connery their way through restaurants in the Lake District/Yorkshire Dales then Italy

Buddy road trip in the vein of the above to shows. Very enjoyable despite not finding coogan particularly funny in other things he’s done.

Helps if your 13yo daughter knows who Michael Caine/Sean Connery are though…

Riders of Justice

I was expecting a revenge movie, but got so much more. Dark, touching, surprisingly funny. Definitely worth a watch.

THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN

Soundtrack had anIn Bruge feel to it, as do the lead characters and the tuneful feckin Gaelic language. That's where the similarity ends though.

This is a beautifully crafted feel "bad" movie that drags you along to a rather flat conclusion.

I watched it last night and recognise your review.

Still enjoyed it though, something a little different and the 2 hours passed quickly. As to the ending I thought it was spot on, what else can happen; shoot out, car chase, fireworks display? biggrin

Mulholland Drive

Watched it for the first time last last night after reading about the death of Angelo Badalamenti.

Well I'm sure it was the first time... many scenes felt familiar so I must have seen it before and may have subconsciously repressed it. That or I caught bits of it and promised myself to watch it in full another time.

Riders of Justice (Retfærdighedens ryttere), Thanks to all, who recommended it. Danish with English sub-titles.

Certainly dark, but bloody funny at times, touching and very much keeps you engaged.

A Christmas film, but not for all the family.

One of my absolute favourite films, though I like most of Lynch's work. Probably the one film that whenever I've recommended it, has resulted in the most 'what the hell was it about?!" questions laugh

New Avatar. Wow, what an epic film. Absolutely loved it, great action, amazing film work and the effects with the water and 3d were seamless..
Can’t begin to image how you create a film like that.
