John Wick 4 - cinema

Brain out, loved it. Couldn't get much better in the genre...9/10
Did you hear that there is going to be a spin-off series based on The Continental hotel.

The trouble with John Wick is I forget which ones I've seen and probably would have no idea even if I saw them back to back.
I really liked the first, the second was ok then I just lost interest in the character so have no urge to see 3 & 4

Sexy Beast
For some reason this movie passed me by in the early noughties, I’m glad I stumbled across it last night, it’s an excellent film with an amazing performance by Ben Kingsley in how to do a menacing, unhinged gangster..

funny I was going to say that 1 is the best, 2 is middling (thought still entertaining) and 3 is (nearly) on a par with 1

Another thumbs-up to Sexy Beast - Sir Ben is absolutely psychotic

This film is definitely on my watch a few times list. Leave it for 3–6 months and rewatch. I am pretty sure that you will enjoy it at least as much watching it a second time.

Passengers

Was really enjoying it until it decided to become an action movie.

8/10 followed by 3/10

Just to add, can you imagine sexy beast coming to mainstream cinemas now. All those people that love films like Nomadland wouldn’t know what hit them!

And yes, I thought Nomadland was a waste of time film.

I'd say they were all exactly the same.

I love a good revenge/fight movie and I don't mind KR either but while the first was alright found it all a bit vapid after that, rinse and repeat. Even a brain out movie needs a hint of character development!

I watched 3, they just get worse with more jump the shark ridiculousness. 1 was pretty decent and had a bit of plot.

JW beating up 50 baddies who queue up to be kicked and shot in the head is now boring AF IMO.

might watch 4 when its on free services and after a few/many at the local

Its so funny that everyone is an elite assasin but chuck it all away for a brief skirmish. Too much work for those left. 'Cant fit the hit in till 2025 as im all booked up'
Still better than that lumbering oaf shindler and his particular skills.

Some pretty hefty film critics disagree with you. John Wick series "Just gets better and better" etc.

I just can't hack the way multiple assassins always take turns to fight, 3 at a time, so the alpha male can take them out in synchronised succession.

If they all rushed him, he'd be dead.

I know a martial arts expert who has featured in films. A mate asked him "What would happen if half a dozen blokes jumped you?"
"They'd kick my head in" he drily replied.

John Wick 4. 9.5/10 fingers hehe

Just got back from seeing it, loved it. It knows what it is and it's comic book/Die Hard levels of 'he really should be dead by now'. The nearly 3 hours flew by.

For good news/bad news though - Good news: you're working on the effects for John Wick 4. Bad news: your only job is to digitally paint out Keanu Reeves' finger from every frame of the film hehe

Ha, or just stand back and all shoot him.

It's not really the lack of realism that annoys me though, the fight scenes go on for too long and are just boring, with zero tension. And seem to replace any semblance of a plot or storyline. JW 1 had some.

The complete opposite of Die Hard, which is an interesting comparison mentioned above.

I thought the first one was highly average, two and three were pants. I gave up on the third one as it was just stupid by that point.

The Banshees of Inisherin on D+.

A black and white French Art film but filmed in colour, in English, and set on an Irish island.

Has a couple of funny moments, but overall it is not worth the effort and is way overhyped.

5/10.
