Can I ask what the laugh out loud moments were as I don't really recall any?
Trying to meet the 'no spoilers' part of the subject. The comment from the player about his girlfriend and balls cracked me up, the brutish Downs girl often had me laughing (reminded me of my Downs sister, who is very similar, in a not to be messed with way) and the reaction of the Downs lad when his mum announced that she knew his sister and the coach were at 'it' to name a few. I'm not going to re-watch the whole film to log examples though.

Just watch Champions (2023) online, on a streaming site.

A former minor-league basketball coach receives a court order to manage a team of players with intellectual disabilities. Despite his doubts, he soon realizes that together they can go further than they ever imagined.

Utterly superb, a solid 8/10. The sensitive subject matter, which could very easily be properly mucked up, was handled superbly. Some real laugh out loud moments, and at just over 2 hours long it could well have felt dragged out, yet it didn't.

Trailor -

I suspect it's a bit formulaic for the critics - but the audience reviews are right up there. It looks like it's a good laugh anyway...
Actors with Downs Syndrome have a lot to offer - I thought 'The Peanut Butter Falcon' was a great little film.

I figure humour diffdrs between people but found the scenes a chucklesome but not laughing out loud. I can't recall being amused more than 5 or 6 times but perhaps my expectations were higher or different.

It's a nice tale with some humour thrown in rather than a comedy with a nice tale thrown in.

The Deep House, Netflix

Watched this last night, quite an original concept being a horror film shot underwater.

Quite a challenge to film I imagine. Anyway, two central characters were not very well matched and not much character development to make them either likeable or not.

Got to say the first three quarters of the film was quite good, build up of tension and some “shock” moments to help get the scares going. Sadly the last bit turned into a bit of a bit of an old and frequently used idea, just under water.

Anyway, I’d give it 6/10 gasps for breath mainly for the idea and challenge of shooting under water.

Moonraker on ITV4

I feel sadness as I realise that the main villain - Drax left people on Earth who would be killed when the orchid globes reached Earth
Sobering thought
Great film

Great film
I lasted all of 5 mins as I came in at a scene where Bond us being incredibly creepy and borderline rapey when "seducing" a woman.

Eughhhh

(Seen the film loads of times before, including when it was originally released at the cinema as my dad was a big James Bond fan and always took me along)

Edit: Drax is definitely one of the better villains though

We just watched the last half over Hot Dogs. What always surprise us is the number of people happy to work for these evil megalomaniacs, knowing the moment they’re caught they’re all going to die.

Great villain, excellent effects for the time, good Moore moments. Love it, but having recently binged all five Craig instalments it really shows it’s age in so many ways.

Company machine gun. Free uniform. Sign me up!

Unless it's for a Roger Moore one. They were all ste. Even the producers said they wanted to go for more comedy when they hired him.

fk me, he was bad.

Just watched Schindlers List.
I know it is a very old film now, but what a masterpiece.
It is so close to being a documentary it is unreal. The quality of the acting is breathtaking.
Very harrowing as you would expect but brilliant.
The ending even drew me to shed a tear.
Simple mind blowing..

One of my favourite more fun facts about SL is that Spielberg dropped out of film school young but went back and his submission for the course was SL...Oscar winning SL. Now that's a flex.

We watched them all when they were on Prime recently. First time I’ve watched a lot of the older ones since I was a kid.

Most have not aged well and pretty much all the Moore ones are actively bad.

Just finished a rewatch of Star Trek TNG so we're watching the movies now.

Watched Insurrection last night, possibly the worst ST movie overall. It would've been a st episode let alone stretching it out to movie length. Also I just noticed watching this time that every time Jonathan Frakes directs he totally hypes Ryker laugh.

First Contact is still good and Generations is alright. Got Nemesis to watch tonight, not really got high hopes.

You know, I've never seen this, which has prompted me to get a Blu Ray copy off the bay. Remains to be seen how I'll fare with it being in black & white.

Monster Hunter (currently on Netflix)

Another Paul W. S. Anderson film with his wife in it. Effects aren't too shonky (at least some aren't) but the story is a fragmented underwritten mess; feels like they wrote a few bits, threw the scenes together then forgot to link it or put an ending on.

It's a superb and powerful film. Hard to watch at times as you expect but it is expertly crafted. It's easy to forget how good Liam can perform after his formative years of playing the same character with a certain set of skills...

An absolutely brilliant and harrowing film. One of the best in my opinion.

Was it in black and white? I’ve seen it twice, absolutely brilliant film and have a mental image of it in colour!

Just goes to show what a good film it was and is.

B&W, apart from the little girl in the red coat.
