Oh and i hope it wasnt just us that stayed on BBC to watch "The Wall!" fk me, havent laughed so much in ages!

Its a dreadfully produced poorly thought out gameshow, but you just know everyone is willing them to lose it all! Tonight did not disappoint! biggrin

There's plenty of opportunities for shenanigans in this new format.

Quite likely if she hadn't been paired with the female viewers favourite, Anton

I thought Anton would be paired with the politician. He was given a good partner last year, so mustn't grumble smile
Katya with the boxer - no shenanigans for you this year biggrin

Last year's winner dancing with Oti - looked like they weren't in sync, especially at the start.

Roll on next weeks show smile

As an aside I liked Karen's new hairdo.

Absofkinglutely.

Adore Darcy.

As for the pairings - some odd ones, and some obvious ones. Jaime and Karen having the same hair is amusing...

Bill Bailey is going to be superb - rare we get an older unfit bloke who's actually full of rhythm.

Eastenders girl is going to do well if she's willing to put the work in.

Is it just me that thinks they've paired them in a way lead more by who definitely won't start fking each other, rather than dancing chemistry/size matching?

Oh, and Katya will be lead. In some ways, I think that's a mistake.

I see on Twitter (so must be true) that the odds on Bill Bailey have shortened dramatically and betting was even suspended briefly due to the level of interest.

As for the others, Jacqui Smith definitely in the dance off in the first show on judges votes.

Karen's new haircut makes her look like that Monica off of Masterchef (not that there is anything wrong with that),

I'm sure the judges will have been told not to mark down Nicola and Matya for doing anything 'untraditional' but that seems to be less of an issue since Len left. They've certainly got some scope for some interesting choreography - switching leading etc. - assuming Nicola is any good...

Caroline will surely be the viewers favourite.

Jason might not get the votes just for being a brash American, it would have been much more interesting to have seen his NFL Show comrade Osi on Strictly as I think he's more of a character/likeable/etc.

I was somewhat disappointed to see a small studio audience, I was hoping for them to copy sporting events and have fake crowd noises including booing when Craig gives his comments.

Also, I assume there will be no extra backing dancers used later in the series and maybe even less 'stunts' like the flying wires so avoid contact between crew and performers.

One more thing.... The contestants are obviously not totally isolating themselves as Jason Bell was working on the NFL Show as normal (although wasn't last week) so there's every chance of people getting the virus during the series. I can see them having to cancel the show for a couple of weeks if multiple couples test +ve and have mega-evictions to get the numbers down in time for the final.

Thought it a decent opener. Can't warm to Nicola Adams at all, don't know why, she reminds me of Paul Whitehouse's character in the Fast Show that went around saying everything was brilliant all the time. Don't much like the Eastenders girl either - far too full of herself although unfortunately it looks like she can dance so she'll be in it for the stretch. Hope Bill Bailey has the talent to last, quite like Caroline Quentin and the NFL guy and think HRVY will go quite far too. The MP could well be out first vote, she looked as lacking in dance ability as I do.

TBH I think they've done well to get even the current setup running. It looks like they're following the same route as Bake Off Extra Slice with regards to having a limited audience.

The smaller audience could be one of the best things about this year. They may have to finally scale back the excessively fake, cue card placement booing, whenever Craig gives a comment that's even only slightly negative, which has become more common over the years. It's usually more pointless when you get a massive jeer of boos over some throwaway comment about a loose hand, and then 30 seconds later Craig hands out an 8 and the crowd are cheering.

Anyone watching tonight?

Opening Pro dance seems a little longer than normal, presumably to fill a little with reduced audience/judges.

Yes. Opening dance was a bit of a mixture.
