When the series started most of the celebs were household names who were not natural dancers and the pro-dancers were the unknowns. It is the other way round now.

The big thing that has changed is the stage-school shoe-ins. I had not heard of HRVY, but on last nights performance, he looks like a certainty for a finalist.

The show is missing the lightheartedness of both Len and Bruce - I miss Darcey.

It has become a parody of itself. I no longer care who wins and loses
Is there really that much of a difference in the contestants?

They maybe are missing a couple of really high profile names, but the format of choosing soap stars, radio DJs, TV presenters, comedians and pop stars who have faded away looks very similar. Due to all the Covid restrictions it's understandable that they might not get the strongest lineup.

Looking back at earlier series, I don't think they were all household names. I guess it'll be more a case of younger people are less relevant to you as you grow up.

One benefit of fewer people in the audience was that the general level of over the top hysteria was lower, particularly after each dance was done and they go upstairs for the interview. Made it much more watchable to me - although watching is still out of one eye while I do something else.

Struggling to get up much enthusiam for this series. Not sure why, but the contestants seem less interesting than usual.

Good summary. Yes, the judges are much poorer these days, the 2 women are very annoying whereas Darcy was always enjoyable. I've enjoyed most of the recent years but this just seems lacking by comparison.

which arts and drama academy did HRVY go to then, anyone googled? cos he certainly been keeping it quiet....
School seems to be Leigh Academy, which appears to be a normal state funded academy.

Doesn't preclude extra curricular stuff though.

Siobhan Hayes Matthew Cutler

Gloria Hunniford Darren Bennett
Fiona Phillips Brendan Cole
Dennis Taylor Izabela Hannal
Will Thorp Hanna Haarala
Bill Turnbull Karen Hardy
Patsy Palmer Anton du Beke
James Martin Camilla Dallerup
Zoe Ball Ian Waite
Colin Jackson Erin Boag
Darren Gough Lilia Kopylova

Series 3 was the first one that I watched, I knew 9 of the 12 celebs and none of the dancers, or judges.

Agree. Motsi’s squeaking and gushing commentary is very wearing and Shirley likes the sound of her own voice too much, and is creepy when she gets the hots for a young male contestant.

Considering the circumstances and restrictions thought it a pretty good show. I find it increasingly annoying that they have to keep mentioning all the COVID protocols that they’re following, but also realise that they don’t really have a choice unless they want to be inundated with complaints about distancing and bubbles and stuff.

On ability I can’t see the politician going very far, and hope the perma-grinning shadow boxing Nicola Adams follows shortly after - I’ve never been much of a fan of Katiya either so it’d be no loss if they went, despite the gushing from the judges who seem more interested in keeping the first single sex couple in for as long as possible rather than their dance ability.

Think the Eastenders girl looks pretty much a shoe in for the win with HRVY going far too, but aside from those two and the politician aren’t aren’t too many stand out performers or complete duffers. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

That seems pretty fair; I can't disagree with any of that.

Amy is hooked up with her professional partner - they postponed their wedding this year.

I think Mrs JJ is safe - I get the impression Amy is just lovely. JJ seems like a sound chap too.

What's this HRVY thing? Prtnts cnt or what? I thought it might be an homage, if you will, to Primal Scream's XTRMNTR but I can't think of anybody less Primal Scream.

Maisie and HRVY a step ahead of the others. Bill impressive and seems pretty fit for a man of advancing years. Caroline over marked. Jacqui like that drunk woman at the end of the work Xmas party marauding the dance floor looking for victims.

Unless something amazing happens it's going to be between Maisie and HRVY. Head and shoulders above the rest.

As has already been said the Eastender and HRVY are some way ahead of everyone else. Caroline Quentin and Bill Bailey are showing the rest how the oldies are rocking it but the politician has to go - she’s so far adrift it’s untrue. It looked as though she’d completely forgotten their routine as soon as the music started.

Already getting fed up with Tess and Claude saying how contestants have no dance experience and how hard they’re working, and also getting bored with Nicola Adams being incapable of not relating everything to boxing.

Jason is OK but a bit intense, saying how it's all a journey and so on.

HRVY has an irritating name and his copyright date inked on his neck, but he's a good dancer. He's having it off with Maisie according to the Daily Mail.

I like the fact Bill Bailey is so unexpectedly good.

Ranvir used to be a presenter on my local news, so is someone I'm sticking up for a bit.

Nicola's dance was OK, but didn't seem especially sharp, in time with the music or in sync with Katya, so I don't think it was worth three eights.

Jacqui was clearly just trying to remember a sequence of moves and wasn't listening to the music. The difference with someone such as HRVY who's musical is they listen to the music and have a sense of rhythm and timing. Jacque doesn't.

I think that's just him being American.

If they can avoid the dance offs I suspect that both Caroline and Bill can go all the way on the public votes.
