What is the mindset of asking someone to review your car as I don’t get it? Is it that you want to see your car on YouTube to be pored over by Jay’s viewers, or what is the attraction of it? I ask because Chris Harris gets people asking him to drive their exotica and I’ve never understood it.
Just a question.
Some people think a car is worth more if it's famous on youtube... Just a question.
JayEmm reviewed my car at the end of last summer, and was a perfect gent to do business with.
It still took a couple of months after thinking that would be a giggle, to emailing my details.
Reasons for doing so:
Firstly I believed the car had not recieved a "decent review" anywhere else and guessed he would probably like to drive that particular model. I thought I was getting something worthwhile to watch uploaded for other viewers, instead of the usual exhaust and mods videos. As a person who genuinley likes the channel I genuinly wanted the video to do well for JayEmm and help keep his car fleet on the road!
Secondly I was just curious about the whole experience. I am not a social media person. It is kind of weird (in a good way) seeing your car on your TV. Its also really fun to actually see the review; knowing at any moment something good, bad or indifferent could be said about your pride and joy.
For added entertainment I set a number for the views I thought/hoped the review would get in my head.
It actually made that figure in the first day, so that made me feel it was not a waste of time.
Thirdly its a great way to explain about your car when people ask you about it. Even if something happens to the car I now have a record of it.
Finally I did it as a test of what I have learnt on my journey with cars. If it passed the critical review of JayEmm than I could feel at least bit vindicated in some small way
I can see others having a YouTuber car review for the fun, their ego (especially if they can be in the video), or to show to their friends. I am not convinced you would specifically wish a YouTube channel to review your car to increase its value.
"If" your car gets a fantastic review and its rare, then maybe the values of that model of car in general could of course be "influenced"?
Irrelevant in my case as its a keeper.
I have lent my cars to instagramers/Youtubers and our local version of 5th Gear/topgear here in Finland which we have Marku Alen instead of Tiff Nedell.
I dont want to be on camera. I dont have a social media account that has the cars on it. They aren't parked outside my house.
As for reviewers, I normally give them the car for a few days or a week as I have found that some feel pressure to get a shot on the day. I did a burnout and some drifting shots for them when my tires needed to be replaced. Then I gave them the car with fresh tires later that day. Most Instagrammers just want to do things with the car that are harmless, like driving thru McDs or picking people up.
But I know some people are very protective of their cars, which in my eyes is a bad thing long term.
The way I got into this was through doing Make a wish rides at the local hospital. This was a good way to enjoy the car yourself and share what makes the car a positive thing. This is also a good network of people taking this much more seriously on social media and that is how I got in touch with people who need your type of car and those who film them. You also can speak to other owners about how the person who they lent the car was.
For me personally this has been the hardest part of the Covid lockdown to deal with. I have been doing one to one garage chats with them and others who we couldn't take out.

Just listening to JWW and Yianni talking Chris Harris on stereo. In the last week I’ve heard Yianni throw quite childish jabs at Harris, as if wrapping footballers cars is of more value to the car world than a serious journalist.
They had quite a spat a while ago over a vid Yianni posted of a Lambo crashing at some kind of meet. Yianni questioning Harris' driving credentials made me laugh. thegreenhell said:
Pretty sure they are not real adverts. They are more like something that would be dreamt up by a teenager. No serious company or advertising watchdog would allow adverts like that in this century.
This article says the alleged Aston ad was fake using a photo from a German edition of Playboy, but that the BMW ad was genuine.http://www.aston-martin.com/2013/02/24/ad-for-used...
I found this about the BMW ad:
"This provocative advertisement was created for car manufacturing giant BMW in 2008 as part of their used-car marketing campaign. The image features an attractive, youthful female model with a seductive pout and reads “You know you’re not the first. But do you really care?”. The advert was withdrawn after an outbreak of fury among the public and vast amount of negative media attention surrounding the advertisement."

You do realise that you invented Dogging, Page 3 and have a surprisingly high amount of "Adult entertainment" shops all the way up the A1.
But please go on, one must be educated on the higher moral ground British people are on. Titania McGrath is real huh?

Some of us remember advertising styles from "back in the day" so it's not such a shock to see things like that - https://www.motorpunk.co.uk/articles/easiest-job-w...Presumably Stereo is a new platform and Youtubers are being ? paid to promote it?
I listened to Shmee's Stereo last night - the format was a Q&A for Shmee and Shmarc with sound only and a picture of caricature faces, with them selecting and dealing with voice questions.
I did not find it as good to 'watch' as Podcasts on Youtube. Other thoughts on Stereo?
