I don't know why folk get so hung up on what other people spend their money on? Especially around cars. Mind you, I do wonder what the point was of he and Archie buying that Jimnny?

This, for about a month the Jimny was the car to have and they were in short supply. However it didn't take long for all the YouTubers to realise they were rubbish as a car and so they all sold them on. Easy choice to make as you could actually sell them for a profit at the time.

Personally I just want to know if I've got any chance of owning anything but a Ford fiesta on PCP so look to compare and contrast other people's financial situations to my own

Joking but that's what it's about in most cases

Only channels I get worked up about is DMO and LLF due to their driving antics and I am honestly fascinated by the amount of money DMO seems to have, mostly intreagued at his recent lamborghini purchases and how thick his audience is. There are other youtubers in similar situations I just don't watch because I can't stand them but don't complain about them

No one is hung up on anyone spending their money on cars, this is PH after all, but we should also question what we see if it appears strange. If you swapped DMO for TGE the accusations would be flying around. DMO buys a Lamborghini, folk focus on the deposits he’s collecting for the various events that he has organised, the inference being that said deposits were being scammed off punters to fund the Lambo’s. While TGE buys a car every month - but he’s an entrepreneur.

People don’t question what TGE is up to, partly because we don’t care but also out of apathy, because he’s a sound bloke. TGE’s ad hoc car purchases are very odd - if he was anyone else less likeable people would be questioning his activities more than they currently do.

I don’t really care what he does, I’m just intrigued and curious to see where this all ends up. Maybe one day he’ll reveal that every single car that he’s bought was for a museum project , a car rental business, a supercar experience company or whatever, but one day it’ll all make sense, good or bad.

Just seen Mr Smooth speccing his GT3, not surprised he got a slot TBH.
However its a PTS slot and wondered if you are forced to pay the £5k PTS premium or still choose a standard colour?

Same deal with the GR Yaris, I guess. Archie was regretting buying it (probably as other Youtubers had pipped him to the post for videos, Shmee covered his white one in a 90s tribute livery) as it wasn't what his audience wanted to see. I struggled to see the move from BMW M8 and Audi RS6 to a 3 pot 1.6 Yaris? No doubt a stop gap until the new M3 / M4.

Salvage Rebuilds has great content, and Calvin's Car Diary is a nice diversion from the usual churn. TGE did well with his latest classic Carrera. STG is looking to get a Defender 110 soon.

TGE said he sets up brand deals before even buying the car and they're then business assets to him. So even if he doesn't put a ton of miles on them, they still can and likely are making him money one way or another. One trip to a PPF shop or a shed that fits carbon fibre trim pieces is exactly done for the reasons mentioned. All them YTers do it.

I don't care where they get the money from as long as they're transparent enough about it and make good content.

It does seem quite selective how posters are concerned as to where youtubers get the funds to buy cars.

In the US, Samcrac has bought an I8 and a C63S amongst others, all funded by his "step mom" and no one seems to care.

Is it just because he is direct at about his funding source that he gets a free pass? wink
The step mom , is that actually his mrs ?

Why is the ‘where does the money come from’ topic on loop?

This thread is on its fourth volume, the topic has been omnipresent. It calms down for a few days whilst something else is bhed about and then comes back with a vengeance.

Have to agree. What I'm struggling with is how having money really gets you the success some of these have.

Look at Phil Dixon, loads of nice cars but the charisma of a brick and his view counts reflect it.

Unless you are good in front of the camera and can put a good piece together you aren't gonna do that well no matter how much money.

As there’s so much discussion on “influencers” finances it seems appropriate to remind PHs of one of the original influencer witch hunts.

SO THATS HOW CHRIS HARRIS AFFORDS HIS CARS

The underlying stench of the double standard at this point is palpable. More are seeing it and asking the most basic questions and it’s good to see.

I see LLF has bought a 720s. It’s strange to see that he is the trajectory his channel has gone since the incident.

Is Schmee desperate to be famous? independent from his parents, but with his portion of the famous Burton family fortune? Why does he dress like he's 56 when his audience are kids that think "owning" supercars is an aspirational dream? Why does he have that weird persona, schemeeeee, cheeeerererereererers. His videos are so very weird. Good for him though if the kids like them, but his audience will grow up very soon. Then what happens? influence a new generation of kids with the supercar ownership rich kid dream? Offload the cars and go back to a fake electronics business / sell phone peripherals on eBay? Cheeereeeeeerrereres.

Edit: Grammar.
