Alex started a shipping/truck company at the start of this year and appears to be focusing on that.
Yes, I’d seen that but it could just mean he’s driving a truck for his own company. I believe his father was in that line of work.

It just seems strange that he would effectively quit YouTube not long after moving to larger premises and trying to recruit someone to help with the builds.

This is either good news for the guy, or bad news. All I know is youtube channels don't often sell, as the audience tends to follow the person rather than the channel, but please keep us up to date with any further information.
I doubt that much money changed hands, the channel has been dormant for five months. The only thing we know for sure is that the channel has been taken over by Royalty Exotic Cars where they 'will be posting buying, repairing and modifying new, used and crashed Supercars and Hypercars'.

There must still be some value attached to the back catalogue of content as long as it’s generating income. There’s also the subscriber base, although like you say, most of that will probably move on. It's like he decided to stop and then someone made him an offer for what was left of the channel. He hasn't introduced the new people, collaborated on projects, and then announced that he was stepping aside.

According to someone in the comments section, Aaron Palos has been trying to contact him. It’s possible he will find something out.

Has Miss Emma Walsh sold her channel...?

I'm so confused by her last 3 uploads.

Either been hacked or having a breakdown
Clearly not hacked because she is promoting it on her new Miss Emma Walsh channel - which currently has 1k subscribers. She is not at her best on the intro video. She has good presenting skills in the past (she was good at Autosport Live), so to be a lead presenter with someone or an organisation driving the content that could work well - but the first effort from BOXD TV is not encouraging.
I have heard of Royalty Exotic Cars and have seen the on other youtubers videos, is there really any value in buying that channel though, would it not have been better and easier to have just started up on their own, filmed four or five videos uploaded one a week and go from there, invite other known youtubers to visit etc if the content is good they will get subs and views ok a while to get to 300k+ but how many of the existing 300k+ are actively watching and will continue to to watch something they never subbed to.

Emma's channel cannot have been worth much and surely it will take longer to reach the sub count from the old channel on her new channel, the old channel had stuff with all the main UK youtubers, Tim, Sam and even Paul etc, I unsubbed a while ago from the old channel as she had stopped uploading and was just uploading fitness videos, I have had a look at the new channel and I won't be bothering to sub to it, if she had not sold the old channel and started to upload content I liked I would have re-subbed, but I won't bother with the new channel because she doesn't care for the people who were subbed and supported her on the old channel otherwise she wouldn't have sold it, she is just treating them with contempt imo.

I do like Emma, especially after how honest and open she was about mental health a few years back. I think the YouTube trolls got to her a few years ago which seemed to be a turning point for her channel. That's around the time she starting uploading different stuff, fitness, music, etc. I think she just lost interest in YouTube, so if she was made an offer for her old channel and it was a lucrative enough deal then fair enough.

It's now been taken down, but it was two audition tapes and a random 2hr 30 race.

Still live but unlisted now:

It does seem as though she's sold the channel, despite her last public upload saying she's working with BOXD TV to provide more content in the future. I can't see a company that no one has ever heard of and only existence on the internet appearing to be dodgy Smart TV apps having much clout when it comes to getting access to world class racing drivers and events...
Why does that looks familiar?

Oh he because mr set top box has basically pirated and uploaded the livestream.

Also available on red bull motorsport, who, I suspect actually paid for their TV rights so didn’t need to buy a channel wink

https://youtu.be/UYODTrXEjQQ

This is why you never sell your channel, I don’t imagine many people in the motorsport and prestige automotive community will be too happy with MEW’s ‘association’ with a content pirate.

The lazy fker didn’t even modify her description template....not what you’d expect from a professional media outfit with legitimate broadcast rights...

Yes I did as well, if she lost interest why did she start a new channel?

Which brings me onto,

Exactly, taken money from nefarious source wouldn't look good at all.

She hasn't taken care of the subs she had, does she think this content that will be on the channel is the sort of thing the subs want, if she had enough she should have just said so and kept the channel for the future for anything she did in the PR sphere for example, I know she was short of money but it seems that she has thrown away everything she had gained from the channel over all the years.

It's a GT4 - he said a few videos ago that he has a GT4 RS on order - so maybe bought the GT4 to facilitate that.
When someone says "GT4", I immediately think of the AWD Celicas, and then there's a moment of disappointment when I realise they mean a Porsche.
Yeah, definitely!

Tim was saying in the behind the glass podcast he is looking at adding another 7 or 8 cars to the collection this year.
Whilst I'll most likely be accused of envy, I just don't see the point of owning so many cars. (even if you do make videos of them)

As for the Ford GT and spending £5.5K on brakes? laugh
I struggle keeping up with two! Those brakes though, I'm sure Smee must have forgotten the BIGFORTYEASTER code on Eurocarparts; he could have saved a packet.

I haven't fully fallen down the rabbit hole of motoring YouTubers yet, but avidly watch Harry Metcalfe and Carfection (only when Henry presents mainly) and it leaves me wondering whether they could transfer to the "big screen" in the role of Clarkson and May? I'm missing an Hammond "replacement" however and would nominate - a left field choice bearing in mind he's a blacksmith!, Alec Steele. For those who haven't seen his videos, please go and have a peek. I like his presentation style and enthusiasm albeit nowt to do with motors!

Mind you, I had the same "I wonder if" moment pre Chris Evans time on TG and look what happened there! rofl

I thought sometime ago that Tim, James, Chris Harris and either Emma Walsh or Becky Evans would be good replacement presenters for TG, the thing I have realised is they are better doing their own thing and not be constrained by TV, this would be the same for Harry and Henry.

The problem for the magazines/TV stations is if we want to see the latest sports/super/hyper/mega being driven we can do via Tim, James, Harry, Henry etc, one reason why Jezza, Hammond and May have switched to doing the tours, they simply cannot get the latest and greatest out as fast, reviews have been nullified by others, I remember Jezza being interviewed and he said something like "only an idiot would buy a car because he or any other car reviewer said the car was excellent".

The only recent one I have seen that sort of worked was Lovecars with Tiff, they basically do what they do on Youtube but with a bigger budget.

It would be nice if Harry was able to get onto Jezza's farm show though.

I know Jezza has a Lamborghini tractor, it doesn't seem to be very good off-road though hehe

It must have been already been said, but I'll say it again.

Shmee150 was on behind the glass this week, and it's an excellent listen. It might make you realise there's logic in Tim's car buying, he didn't break any travel rules as everyone here keeps hoping, and that Tim is not the same person as Shmee150, which many forget.

Such a shame the trolls won and he left this thread as his inputs were amongst the few worth reading.

Agreed. It was a great interview, and I prefer listening to Tim like that. I guess I’m not the target audience for “Shmee” and the whole Shmeemobiles etc type branding isn’t my thing, but I get why a younger audience will like it

This thread was referenced on the Smith & Sniff podcast this week and specifically Tim’s contributions which were always balanced and gave a great insight into the world of YouTube.

Didn't he leave because he swore blind he wasn't a car reviewer and people posted up stuff where he claimed he was ?

In today's world you put something online and it's there forever , no hiding from it .

But i agree much like jayemm his posts were quite interesting .

Yep it was a great listen however, seems mad to me that he is now buying cars based on what income they will generate.

He in a minute will have too many cars to follow and I wonder if the channel will suffer as a result.

It's been said many times before but I agree entirely. His contributions were insightful, genuine and interesting. Not to mention detailed, not just single sentences randomly chucked out but we'll considered replies that gave an insight into YouTube workings that we're sorely missing now.

Sadly some on here simply hate him for whatever reasons and would not let things lie or stop the personal attacks. Pathetic and a pity.

Certi Drivers are back with another video. This time with an Audi S7 doing over 100mph down built up areas one handed while ‘reviewing the car’. How the hell has that channel not been shut down yet is beyond me.

Just catching up on this and quite a shock I assumed he would come back at some point this year.

He was closing in on 500k subs so there had to be decent money in the channel going forward but one can only assume that money is not an issue for him so decided it was not worth bothering.

I think its an example of how the rebuild channels have pretty much done everything even some pretty exotic stuff.

My view is this could trickle down to the buy, wrap, exhaust and sell crew. There are only so many cars in the world.
