Thoughts on Maserati.
Must be 12 years ago now but I used to be part of a 'business networking group' in the early days of my business and one of the other members was a commercial photographer. He did some work for a sports/supercar hire firm and asked if any of us were free for a day or 2 to help drive the cars between locations alongside him and a couple of the hire firms own staff. Naturally I jumped at this and had 2 days driving a load of very nice cars around Wiltshire and Oxfordshire which I'm never forget.
I drove a Bentley GTC Convertible, Porsche 911 Turbo, Boxster (briefly as I didn't fit), Aston Vantage Convertible, Aston DB9 Convertible, Aston DBS, and a Maserati Granturismo.
The one I found hardest to give the keys back to was the Maserati. It was a dark grey with red leather interior and made the best noise from its V8. It wasn't the fastest or the most expensive, but it was the one that felt 'most special'. I did a launch in the 911 Turbo which was by far the fastest car I'd driven at the time and it was quite astonishing (and I say that as a rider of numerous superbikes over the years), but I didn't feel any attachment to it.
Many years later having intended to buy a Grancabrio and saved up for it I only didn't in the end as other half moving in with kids meant a loft conversion took priority.
Cars for me aren't all about stats, they are about how they make you feel. I'll always have a soft spot for the Granturismo. Their new car sadly doesn't appeal as I was more interested in a GT.

I am afraid not. Maserati are a truly bizarre company. They are even smaller than Ferrari in the UK I suspect, and almost totally inactive when it comes to promoting their range. I have emailed and spoke to their PR on a number of occasions, and even owning one hasn't changed anything.
I've currently got a Levante as a courtesy car from Meridien while the 550 is being serviced, and there's quite a lot I like about it (and some things I don't). Half tempted to just film with it and put that out as a review, but I might upset a few people if I do that.
I think you should do the review, if only to find out what courtesy car they give you next time. For some reason this Wrench video from DMax250 popped up on my feed. Seems the 250 was the attendance figure.

Is it bad that I laughed at 5.40? https://youtu.be/i2t-HyesrF4?t=358

Just skimmed through that.... Nice mix of people throwing up random gang signs with their hands, then gathering around a Lambo to film it revving on their phones. Looks like a fun day out https://youtu.be/i2t-HyesrF4?t=358

Has there been a shift in the demographic for car scenes like this?

I guess it varies a lot between locations and event types. That video pretty much made my decision that it's not something I'd want to attend.Has there been a shift in the demographic for car scenes like this?
But places like Cars & Coffee, and even the PH Sunday Services are a complete contrast, so it's not all bad

Must admit was a bit surprised to see you've sold the Lambo JayEmm but can well understand why with the explanation.
Was there no chance of having the stock dampers rebuilt at a lesser cost? And were the springs deffo stock?
P. S. As I said previously, I really like and appreciate the use of multiple angles inside and out. Makes it much easier visually to watch a bloke talking to himself for 15min.

Same here but appreciated the transparency and honesty as my first reaction was 'he said he was in it for the long haul!'.selym said:

All the cars on the driveway and the Lambo keys were the last ones I wanted to go for. It could have been fixed, for sure, but it would have taken months to do it and I would have missed many months of summer with it just making me feel bad.
I desperately wanted to keep it and turn it into the dream I had, but in the end I went with what felt right.
I am very grateful the audience seem to understand and agree with my reasoning.

Completely understandable and I cant help but feel you have dodged a bullet with that particular car.All the cars on the driveway and the Lambo keys were the last ones I wanted to go for. You mention buying another car, would that be primarily for youtube or do you need something not covered by the rest of the garage?

I thought YouTube careers were made off the back of fixing eternally broken Lamborghini’s?!All the cars on the driveway and the Lambo keys were the last ones I wanted to go for. You should have sold it to Paul/SOL

I too was a tad disappointed when I saw the title. However, sometimes it takes a strong man to know when to walk away. I think that if you are lucky enough that an opportunity presents itself to get out of a money pit that makes you miserable without a loss, you would be mad not to seize it.All the cars on the driveway and the Lambo keys were the last ones I wanted to go for. You will be neither the first nor the last to buy a dream car where the experience has become tainted, you have done the right thing.
I would suggest that because you have created your own niche, rather than joining the buy, wrap, exhaust, sell brigade, people will understand this. I would also imagine that your demographic is rather more grown up and less judgmental.
Anyway, keep up the good work.
Yes, this would appear to be the case - evidently I am lucky that my audience are mature and understanding.
The next car I would like to be in the same mould as the Gallardo - ie. Mid engined "supercar".
I have some ideas already and have done a few test drives (YT time not syncing up with real time here) - of course YT has to be a consideration, but the cars I am looking at I had previously written off because other YTers already have one or something similar. I have taken the experience from the Gallardo and decided that I do need to make sure *I* am happy and excited with the purchase, and that the content needs to be a happy bonus. The Gallardo showed at least it is possible to have a car similar to others and still create content people want to watch.

just watched your video Jayemm. Fully understand and love your honesty. Sometimes a car isnt fun and its best to get rid and move on.....like women !! :-) Like someone mentioned above I reckon you dodged a bullet and sometimes age / wisdom kicks in and can see a money pit developing in front of you.All the cars on the driveway and the Lambo keys were the last ones I wanted to go for. Looking forward to what you buy next. Going to be hard as whatever you decide it you to ensure no other YT have done it to death. Perhaps think outside the box... I saw a lovely old Datsun 180B today. Very retro ! :-)
Keep up the great content.
