The profanity-laden and excellent The Critical Drinker sums up WandaVision quite nicely for me, although I have never been for a night out in Dundee - which is a pity.

Off the back of Wandavision I have been rewatching the MCU. A lot of the movies I hadn’t watched for years and are improved, I think, when you know what’s coming.

Even pretty average movies like Thor 1 & 2 are better when you are better able to interpret the noise to signal ratio. There is a lot of filler in those Thor movies which is a contrast to Iron Man 1 & 2 which are pretty tight. The filler in Captain America is mostly contained to his back story.

I had also forgotten how quickly the pace picks up, and how many big gaps there are. Watching them back The Avengers sort of comes from no where.

Iron Man 3 is still mostly dross IMO, but does spend a couple of hours setting up Civil War - which I would contend is one of the best entries so far.

Age of Ultron was better than I remember.

Black Panther I still think Kill monger has a point.

Dr Strange is pretty excellent.

Captain marvel better than I remember.

Guardians excellent.

Thor 3 is so much more than that big fight early on.

Infinity war and end game are superb.

Ant man is still, I think, absolutely fantastic.

So many great movies.

I think Ultron always got a bad rap but more than many of the other MCU films is greatly improved by what comes later, especially Endgame and Wandavision

I did the same a few months back and I agree, re-watching with fore knowledge of what they are building up to makes some of the lessor films a bit better. Of course films like Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 are never going to be stellar but still rate a solid 6 when taken in context.

Iron Man, Avengers, Both GotG films, all three Captain America films, Infinity War and End game are probably my favorites though.

I enjoyed Ragnarok on it's own as it was hilarious but the tone didn't really fit into the MCU for me, was almost too slapstick in a way. Huge fun but I see it as a fun little side quest for Thor and Hulk. It's also a massive departure from the rather serious first Thor movie so while I did enjoy it, I think they pushed Thor a bit too far into the comedy caper realm. I prefer the more subtle mix of comedy and seriousness in the other movies.

I've been rewatching them too but in timeline order. Really enjoying them especially as I hadn't seen some of the early stuff for over 10 years so didn't remember too much.
Currently at Ant Man and looking forward to the last 2

Completely agree with this. However, because I’m invested in the wider MCU, I didn’t like the causal killing of Thor’s friends in Asgard as though they were faceless minions. They didn’t even warrant a pause for thought when Thor returns.
In a lesser franchise I accept they dispose of characters who the audience haven’t engaged with. In the MCU I’d expect them to acknowledge that the other characters in the film cared about them, even if we don’t.

I suspect the studio was a little chastened after loosing the director of Ant-Man because of ‘creative differences’. So on Ragnarok they just stepped back and let the director do what he wanted.
In the end they will look at box office returns and critical reception, not what a few individuals complain about on here.

Wait a minute. Am I missing something here…

Just watching infinity war and Wanda is snapped away.

Everyone is unsnapped in episode 4 of WandaVision. So how can Wanda be alive before that. I’ve missed something obvious there haven’t I?

I thought the unsnap in episode 4 was a flashback.

WandaVision is set 9 days after Endgame, which had the snap to undo the main one of Thanos read
