Watching The Wheel and was astonished that no-one knew Abba won Eurovision with Waterloo.

Even more astonished that next year is the 50th anniversary of its win...

I saw that ,I suppose it all comes down to age.
I'm not a Eurovision fan and couldn't name a single winner for the last 30 years perhaps ,but am the right age to know of Abba and Waterloo .

Ha, i saw that also. I genuinely think she would have struggled to answer if asked what her name was.

The credit-card / phone pay generation maybe. (I don't watch it, no idea how old she was.)

It was shocking that nobody seemed to know, enough Abba documentaries over the years telling the story.

Probably too dim to know what 'denomination' means.

Indeed, it made Tipping Point look like Mastermind in comparison.

Was passing through the lounge when that bit was on, stopped me in my tracks. I'm normally hopeless at popular culture type questions, but really!

Clearly the Take That number with Lulu didn't count.

Don't these people have to go through some sort of audition and answer some questions? Perhaps it's the pressure on the day?
I'm pretty good at quiz shows. I love 'Who wants to be a Millionaire ' and rarely fail to answer at least the £32k question while sitting on my sofa. However, cameras rolling, under the lights, in front of the audience, I doubt I'd even be able to answer my own name correctly!laugh

They probably do audition them, but to make sure they are dumb enough to be entertaining and not win too much.

Ffs! Even if they've never heard of it so have no idea it's Australian, isn't a waltz Austrian?
