Bit crap last night.
Only watched the first hour so far.
The bit on the quay where Branson says 'I saw something glinting as we were going out to sea, I just wondered if we were being watched', looks on the ground, picks up a fag butt and says 'you see, we were being watched'

I seem to remember quite enjoying it. I've read all the books, I think, obviously they're better but I don't remember being outraged.

Grumps.

just watched the first one, i think the issue is trying to fit 400 pages into 90 mins of TV.
The TV episode was much harder to follow then the book I thought

Although Morse seemed to do it, but those ones are more slow paced.

I recall S2 was better than S1

Only just discovered this , a sort of upmarket Midsomer .
Not sure about the acting , lots of plot holes but gripping nevertheless .
And best of all , it did not need foul language added for effect .
We missed the previous series , so will be backtracking

I see it as somewhere between the "village fete" of Midsomer and the gritty Luther

Really enjoyed the books (actually listened to them), and enjoying the series too.

I've only read one of the books, but I think it's a pretty decent detective series.

The main character (Grace) seems to be much the same in book and TV and it feels more realistic than plenty of other cop shows, IMO.
