A while ago, I got oil all over the sleeves of my Castelli jersey (long sleeve) while stopping to put my chain back on. Got most of it to come out, but there's still some horrid black oil stains near the cuff, which wouldn't have mattered if I was wearing my black, cheaper jersey. But of course I had to do it with my bright yellow one!

I've tried everything, but it's not shifting. Must have been through the wash 6 or 7 times since, but it seems fairly permanent now. Various potions from Vanish and the like haven't brought me any joy, I'm wondering there must be a way to get it to shift?

I had the same happen on a LS Gabba jersey. Washing the oily spot with washing up liquid and wet sponge shifted it.

Best thing in my experience for getting oil marks out is first to use clean oil (anything from WD40 to Baby Oil) to dilute the oil stain and then wash but unfortunately once an item has been washed it is much harder to remove a stain.

Yeah that's what I thought, feels like it's permanently dyed that bit of fabric black now.

I have no baby oil or WD40 lying around, would olive oil or vegetable oil work? I can sort it next time I do a fry up then laugh

IPA might dissolve the oil - but it might also attack the jersey, so test on an unobtrusive bit first...

Excellent degreaser. I used it at 10:1 dilution to get an old chain oil stain out of my yellow cycle club jersey

This could be useful, I'll be raiding the valet bay at work on Monday, cheers

I'd gently (finger or soft brush) rub in some Swarfega. Leave for 10 mins or so & then rinse out. Swarfega seems to leave an oily feel, so then just wash as normal.
