I'm beginning to think they've done some sneaky edits of Gerald's rambles. I think they've cut off the beginning of some words and sentences to make it more incomprehensible.

Often, when he's talking, the camera is on Clarkson. I suspect occasionally they've dropped in bits from different converations, too.
Ivw listened to it a couple of times and it's literally incomprehensible mumbo jumbo.

The above would make sense, well more than Gerald.
I posted this the other-day.

I wonder if Harry is at all salty about the obscene money Clarkson is getting paid for this show. Since he basically stole his idea it's almost a carbon copy. Go watch Harrys Farm, the only difference is Harry is usually by himself and his presentation is much more serious with little to no humour. Still, his vids get a couple hundred thousand youtube views...

IMO they're poles apart and I'd be amazed if Harry is in the least bit miffed.

I believe - but could be wrong? - that they're friends, too.

I very much doubt it RE the obscene money Clarkson is getting. Firstly, I have no idea how much Harry earns, and clearly it won't be what Clarkson is on but he's hardly poor is he. Secondly, as much as I love Harry's videos, for general public viewing (ie not car nerds) Clarkson is by far the better presenter. Thirdly, I think the videos are vastly different smile

All that hard work to make £140 profit for the entire year. I bet around 50% of farmers would be better off selling all their assets and finding a new career.
99% of farmers would be better selling their assets and finding a new career.

Farming is a lifestyle choice, rather than a route to riches. Even some of the biggest farmers have a mountain of debt to service, no matter how successful they may look on the surface.
Yep. The truth is you're born into it. Some stay and some leave. No one actually takes it up as a career choice from outside the industry as it's so horrendously expensive to buy somewhere, and why would you? The only people capable of doing that are rich people as we so often see. They're not rich from farming they're rich from something else and are after a tax writeoff. Many sons and daughters of farmers watch their parents toiling and say sod that for a game of soldiers, who can blame them? It won't make me happy if my offspring decide they want to follow me. I never really wanted to farm but a combination of circumstances meant I kind of got lumbered. I completely appreciate what I've got now I'm getting on a bit (and what a fabulous place to raise children) but it doesn't compensate for the unhappiness and sense of lost opportunity of my younger years.
Very good summary. My old man was a farm worker and my brother followed him. I could not wait to find a different direction. Having said that the 1st job was with Massey Ferguson.

They are friends, Clarkson lent his Alfa to be reviewed by Harry.

I doubt it is obscene money, they have a contract to produce a number of shows for Amazon.

What does it matter what he is getting anyway, something decent on tv to watch for a change.

Yes, they've obviously done this.

Interesting to see from the previously linked video that it was Gerald that was the inspiration for the show.

Just rewatched it again with the kids (who also loved it). Still sniggered a little too hard at the clip of JC sawing the plywood biggrin

There are plenty of other 'look what we're doing on our farm' vlogs on YouTube etc, they're all just different facets of the same message but put over differently. HM and JC are probably two of the highest profile, but getting the overall message out is all the better for it being done in different ways to different audiences.

Now we just need Jezza to have a bit of a rant about the main stream media always painting beef farming into the same picture as the big bad operations in the Americas, North and South vs a nice bit of local organic home grown grass fed suckling herds and telling the truth about some other bks put about by the usual environmental suspects.

Even my daughter, not a fan of JC, enjoyed the show and observed that the message reach would be blunted by the historical JC persona meaning it would just not be listened to by a subset of the population simply due to the Grrrr Clarkson effect.

I doubt it but if he is I'm sure Harry could console himself in his multi million pound Cotswold manor house and his vast barn full of cars. Either than or he could cheer himself up by going on a road trip in the latest Ferrari or Rolls loaned to him by the company.

Watched the first episode and hope it gets better to be honest as it’s just as contrived and totally unfunny as TG and TGT was/is.

You’ll probably really enjoy it.

I thought many episodes of TGT were a very poor effort, and a world away from Clarkson Hammond May at their best, I was quite vocal in my disappointment on the TGT thread, yet thoroughly enjoyed pretty much all of Clarksons Farm.

I once used a groundworker who was a cross between Gerald and Kaleb. I've no idea how I managed to complete the project as communication was really difficult but he knew his stuff.

I haven’t watched it yet.

Does he go into the jolly nice side of having the house as part of the farm and being able to put a huge chunk of your everyday expenditure through the company to avoid tax wink

Isn’t that why he bought small holding the first place then a farm.
