I really enjoyed it, only had to pause twice to explain a couple of things to Mrs Ash! biglaugh

I like the humour in it, he is the God of mischief after all, so that was good, plus don't know if anyone else noticed the big about the plane hijack/robbery and how he disappeared, based on real events, the body of that hijacker was never found (or so I understand), so it was Loki all along! Very clever.

And yes, as mentioned above the way they explained what was happening was clever and fun, like the screens you get on rides at Disney telling you about it.

Looking forward to the rest now.

Well, that's the way MCU has spun it. In Norse mythology he's also a God of fire, a version of Lucifer, a malicious trickster, the origin of Odin and possibly a spider.

Now he's a film star. biggrin
They may be working towards this with how the story goes going by devil bearing gifts part.

Going by the trailers so far I've got no doubt this will top Wandavision and Falcon.
Not a high bar. Falcon was terrible, the character who played The Falcon a poor actor and totally charisma-free. Also woeful script and direction. Wandavision marginally better, mainly because of the unusual premise Loki may well be much better but only because of Hiddleston... .
Anything has got to be better than Daredevil.

Impressed with the first episode, the TVA reminded me of The Umbrella Academy's 'temps commission'

Lots of similarities with the Umbrella Academy.

TH is good in the role though!

Easily the best one they've done...well, a feeling that it might be based on 1 episode. Really liked WandaVision so would rank that next. Cap and Bucky unfortunately the worst so far but not for lack of trying.

I was sold on this the minute I watched the trailers. But even more so now.

It's the set design, (and Owen Wilson) that does it for me. I love that mid-century/retro-futuristic look and those overly optimistic "city of tomorrow" vistas. The cartoon explaining Loki's predicament was beautifully done. Reminded me of fallout. And I love fallout!

They could spend a whole series just in the TVA facility and I wouldn't care!

I'm not a Marvel fan on the whole and I'll withhold wholehearted enthusiasm, but the first episode was promising, I thought.

The wife grumbled that 'nothing happened', though...

They're trying to keep it low-key.

You see what I did there...

Yep, I really enjoyed the second one too, my other half is definitely on the fence though and not sure she'll see it through to the conclusion.

Feels like there could be some sort of tie-in with Kang to come

Pretty decent I thought - I like the concept of this almost paranormal type commission exerting contol of everything behind the scenes. I know it's a bit of a trope but it's one I like.

Too bad they have to shoe-horn in the usual 'strong diverse characters' at every opportunity but that's the price of doing anything in the US entertainment industry today. The writers did a good job of working around political dictats to deliver a good story and Hiddleston and Wilson deliver good performances to bring their characters to life.

Hopefully it won't ultimately fail to deliver after a promising start, like Wandavision did IMO (I've never even bothered to watch Falcon and Winter Solidier based on what I've seen in reviews .. I'll probably give it a go once the Summer is over and the long evenings set in).

Agree, I think there is no timekeepers, instead Kang will be behind the TVA, something happens which means the timeline branches off into the multiverse, tying in with the new Dr Strange and Antman.
The TVA is destroyed and then Kang comes to Earth.

Strong diverse characters? Political dictats?

Sounds like the poster only enjoys things which have a cast purely made up of white male characters.

Hence my question? It was just a bunch of actors doing their thing.

I really REALLY hope he wasn’t referring to the the two black woman in prominent roles….
