Note the lack of an actual apology.
Seems to be punting it off to Petrol Hedonism. I assume they were the underlying organizers?

No doubt or they’ll then blame Mallory or someone else.
Petrol Hedonism seem to do all the events for people, In their statement they blamed it on an accident near the entrance and Mallory Park.
  1. stFest became a trending theme, many of you turned around after ridiculous 4 hour queues, and even more people were simply stuck with no food, water or communication about what was happening and why.

You do get the impression with this Alex chap that he's in a big rush to take the world over. Setting up on his own and then setting up this production house arrangement with other creators then a show on top of it. All with no experience of running a business. These guys need to chill out and just make sure you're doing one bit properly first then move onto the next thing. Having the ability to do YouTube doesn't necessarily translate into being good at business outside YouTube.

Unfortunately what happens is that you just make a hash of everything by spreading yourself too thinly and in the case of this show it ends up hurting your brand. Looks to be a bit of a Fyre festival scenario where they just expected the thing to happen without meticulously planning for it. There's widespread demands for refunds. It could wipe him out the from this.
This sums up my thoughts, he seems to be making a lot of clangers lately and I feel it’s going to get worse.

Indeed. It sounds like the plan was for 'show cars' to arrive at 0930, spectators at 1030 and the show starting at 1100.

How anyone thought that was going to work, Lord Knows?

Are they also organising/managing AdamCFest later this month at the same venue?

Show cars 07:45-10:00, attendees from 10:00, show at 11:00.

Realistically show cars should ahbe been 07:45-9:00, attendees from 9:00 and the show at 10:30.

I'll subscribe to TDC etc and enhance Alex's wallet that way
Enhance his wallet? - The guy who is clearly a petrolhead, like the rest of us on here. He became a writer for Autocar and then a presenter on a car channel. Takes a huge risk and sets up alone. Creates a number of channels with enjoyable content which costs nothing for us to watch, creates 'Mattwood' event for a fellow petrolhead who has terminal cancer, and then like Shmee gets endless hate on here.

Why? because Brits cant stand others either doing well for themselves, or doing better than others.

Bitterness and Jealousy as always on this thread

Im sure Shedfest will be a great event, I wonder if the people who are commenting it will be terrible have ever organised their own events for anything?

Actually, no doubt someone will pipe up that he isnt a Petrolhead, like Shmee isnt apparently.
No issue with his mates, just put off by his antics back in the CT days of smashing up other people's stuff for the lols. Maybe he's matured, but I don't see it, with all the screaming and shrieking when going round the Ring for the thousandth time. You don't have to like EVERYONE you see on YT, y'know. Someone can like cars, but also be a bit of a bell-end. I haven't ever vandalised someone's car for a laugh. If I saw anyone do that, be it Alex, or anyone else, my opinion of them is going to be pretty negative. I'd imagine most other people wpould think the same.
I'd agree, if his mates actually owned or cared about the cars that he's crashing into. They were bought and paid for by Car Throttle to be used and abused in the videos. They are not owned by the presenters so they don't care if he crashes into them. He didn't vandalise anybodies car for a laugh lol.

Shame the show was a write off, reminded me of the good old Edition38 show days. That place was bloody mental.

It really wasn't, it was a good, fun event... if you were one of the ones who got in before it went nuts

It must be terrifying in some ways to be a YouTuber and getting a house like that on what I assume is a mortgage?

You just never know when a trend might change, what terrible decision YouTube could make that wrecks your career etc

I took from watching the video that Mat has been savvy with his earnings and has enough passive income from rental property that he would be completely fine. Not to mention he has probably not far off 7 figures in cars if it came down to it.

Well done to him he has worked hard for it and it is fully deserved. I much prefer this type of story to "rich guy buys expensive car with daddy's money"...

I'm a little on the fence with these sort of videos, whilst it's fair to say that anyone who's watched his videos from the start will know where he started and how he's got to this point, they IMO do come across as a little bit of a "look at me" I also think it's one thing showing the rebuilding of cars etc, but posting more personal videos of your house on YouTube and then showing the world for a tour inside it something that should be kept private???

Or maybe he thought people who had followed his journey from the early days wanted to see where he was at now. I certainly enjoyed a look around the house.
Also nothing wrong with being proud of one's achievements, especially when you have taken risks to get there. Can't please everyone whatever you do.

Fair play to him, the house looks nice. As to why he shared it, it’s the journey that people are interested in. People invest in stories, it’s what grows channels.

Also I imagine that at the size of his channel it now attracts a wider audience beyond those just interested in cars.

He should be allowed a brag, he's worked very hard, working several jobs and long hours and gone from not a lot to what he's got now.
You can see from the video he can't believe it himself.

I quite liked his comment which was along the lines of enjoy what you've got today because you might not have it tomorrow. Something i should try and learn to do.

Anyone should be allowed to brag. And people who fund their lifestyle should be entitled to comment. Plenty of people have more than him but don't feel the need to post videos of their lifestyle on the internet.

100%

Not on YouTube on the back of daddy’s money and/or a privileged background.
No finance propping him up either with his car stuff.
Gets his hands dirty …..

No condescending “I think I’ve done very well for myself”
More “I’ve done it so can you”

Well done Matt…
