....Do people really build such good copies?
I suspect there are so many end-of-life suspension pieces, and slightly damaged or unused pieces of bodywork/wings after each season then there isn't any need to 'copy' anything. The limiting factor will no doubt be the 'tubs' and there are probably several extra ones floating about that can't be reused for racing due to damage but perfectly good enough as a base for a show 'car'.
There were literally boxes of last-minute car parts on the baggage conveyor at Bologna.

Teams make basic copies for sponsor events. There’s a chance it could be an early development or damaged carbon tub and the rest of the car is ‘genuine’ carbon parts. However there is a good chance the tub is a plastic replica along with much of the bodywork.
Good chance this is how this started life rather than a stripped out race car.
Williams made quite a few of these that were sent around to display in Renault dealerships at the time.Good chance this is how this started life rather than a stripped out race car.
I don’t watch his videos, but I suspect any history of the car is well known (if you think you’ve bought an ex running F1 car with history and it turns out to be a dummy replica, you really are an idiot).
‘I’ve got an F1 car’ grabs some views. Most the target audience probably don’t even think about the technicalities or know anything about them. Why wrap it when it is clearly a formula car to start with but when unwrapped it isn’t actually a big surprise, as in an original race Williams or whatever it is.
Then the ‘it’s not what I thought it was… and there’s more to the story’ comes out. (Why not just let us know the story on that video).
‘Oh my god, the car is actually x’ video.
‘Could it me made to run’ video.
‘What shall I do with it’ video.
‘I’ve wrapped it’ video.
‘Hooked up to PlayStation’ video
‘Sold it’ video.
What could be one interesting video is drawn out over a long painful process.

I have been watching this series, there are only three videos at the moment.
Chris has had some cars and knows his stuff, interesting to watch imo.
I've also been watching those videos and was surprised that I'd never heard of him before given that he's had pretty much all of the ultimate halo cars. Comes across as pretty down to earth without being in the super smug Shmee category. How's he made his fortune?Chris has had some cars and knows his stuff, interesting to watch imo.

His son's a YouTuber and he bankrolls him.2172cc said:

Nightclubs, bars and restaurants around Barnsley and South York's. It's said that most of them in the area are or were his at some point over the last 30 or so years!

F1 car info just gone live.
It is a FW19 1997 monocoque with Rothmans livery, with 1998 race parts, 1999 Winfield livery, 2001 BWM Compaq livery, built as a show car, the monocoque is a unused spare.
Stand by for 500 plus replies on youtube from people with no idea, put a v10 in it etc etc.It is a FW19 1997 monocoque with Rothmans livery, with 1998 race parts, 1999 Winfield livery, 2001 BWM Compaq livery, built as a show car, the monocoque is a unused spare.

He has been royally stitched up in my opinion, it is not an ex race car and is worth nothing.
There's a SUSPICIOUSLY large amount of very obvious Michelin advertising in the whole shebang.
Obvs it's an ex-Michelin simulator but Shmee is pretty switched on so I wouldn't be surprised if he's been given it for free in exchange for this.
It's fairly worthless but it's a cool thing to have on display. Not a chance in hell of getting it working for an amount less than just buying a functional F1 car.
Here is an actual ex Villeneuve raced BAR that is complete with all systems including gearbox, the only thing it needs is a Hart engine and its up for only £60k

Depends on how much he paid and it is generating lots of interest...
I think that this is very much a nail/head interface. I know nothing about how YouTube pays but I think I’d be surprised if the revenue outweighs whatever it cost and that Tim knew EXACTLY what he was buying and had the ‘story’ planned out from the get-go.
If I was buying a F1 car this is the one i’d have - 1991 Jean Alesi Ferrari with a V12 engine.

There’s actually loads for sale - many races and running so I can only assume he / Santa got pissed and bought it off eBay.

No reason given his knowledge and connections he wouldn’t know how/where to get a proper F1 car if it was for genuine reasons rather than clickbait for his children’s entertainment channel.

So if we can both find where to get an authentic runner you’d question why he’s bought a bag of spare parts, with F1 cars there entire valuecis dictated by who raced it and when.
