I generally don't get on with most American YouTubers, but I've been really enjoying this chap:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK4pb0_5XuI&t=...
Formerly of Hoonigan, but I never watched that (for no particular reason, just didn't appeal)
Was also going to mentions Vin's new channel a while back.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK4pb0_5XuI&t=...

Not sure what is going on at Hoonigan - they all seem to have started their own chanels. Anyway I think Vin has launched a fairly fresh series of vlog videos. If you can get used to the surfer/skate slang, his photography and colour saturation of californian life really is watchable to me. Great car colection; although selling his RX7 looked a tough choice. Really looking forward to progress on the 360 project.
I suppose since BBS LM rims have always been a fave wheel of mine I was always going to like this channel!
Annoyingly, he is possibly one of the coolist car guys on You Tube??

Other than the founder dying and the brand being flogged off to an alloy wheel company? I can't think of many other scenarios that would be more likely to trigger long term employees to decide it was time for a change and to start their own thing.I'm sure most of the big Hoonigan names could have successfully started their own channels years ago, but stayed with Hoonigan out of friendship/loyalty to Ken Block.
No too dissimilar to CarThrottle, once the founder sells out and the new owners have to make a return on the investment by cutting budgets, there's no reason for other employees to stick around.

He's right though, this thread has been awful these past few days.
This whole forum is pretty awful to be fair. When I first started using this place I thought is was almost bullst free until I hung around for a while. Turns out Pistonheads is not free from the trolls, gimps, basement dwellers, jealous folk and hate-filled morons you see all over social media. Too old for this st, I just appreciate the amount of car content available and all for free by guys and girls willing to take a big risk to make it happen.
Having a negative opinion on a video or youtuber no problem at all. The problem is when that decends into name calling, doxing / info digging and baseless accusations of where folks get there money from. No wonder the Youtubers join and leave quickly when they are faced with these things. I'm sure none of them are phased with constructive feedback, but personal attacks or digging for highly personal information and publishing it is out of order.

Agreed. I've wanted to go for years and this is not helping. Danny is over for 2 months I think he said but loving his videos of the place.Really felt for him trying to put his foot down out of the toll booths trying to keep up.
That view over the city at 2am from the mountain would be worth the trip alone.
Hope he manages to get some decent sleep before the race!

And you noticed all this in only 14 months?? Too old for this st, I just appreciate the amount of car content available and all for free by guys and girls willing to take a big risk to make it happen.

wow!Two of the original UK automotive youtubers and also ones that buy, own and drive their cars, Sam showing off his and sharing his most wanted car, I don't know but it wouldn't be a surprise if it was Tim's idea.
I know people here are not keen on Tim or Sam, but I am surprised there is someone that doesn't like either!

This thread needs closing. Either some folk are trolling and looking to get comments or they don’t know how to be civil.
Shame. But PH (at least on the evidence of this thread) continues to change for the worse.
Oh yes...the good old `Cancel culture`. Dont like reading what's been said so shut it down. Now I may not agree with what some people say but they have the right to thier own opinion. This thread has its ups and downs, good days, bad days. Its called a discussion. Long may it live.Shame. But PH (at least on the evidence of this thread) continues to change for the worse.
SBK
Again not saying everyone has to be happy family’s but keeping it civil seems reasonable.

Agreed. I doubt Matt will be back after the unnecessary comments a couple of pages back. Its just rude if nothing else.Having a negative opinion on a video or youtuber no problem at all. Im not saying everything has to be roses but genuinely some people harp, keep scratching that itch they have until those creators who provide some interesting insight fk off - JWW, TGE, Schme have all at some point faced unreasonable st tin foil comments and decided it wasn’t for them.
Again not saying everyone has to be happy family’s but keeping it civil seems reasonable.
It’s ironic that you group the three of them together. TGE was probably the first person to question JWW for misrepresenting other people's assets as his own. Tim’s manager publicly attacked JWW’s integrity, which Tim then backed on here.Again not saying everyone has to be happy family’s but keeping it civil seems reasonable.
I’m not sure that JWW has ever been active on this thread. I understand that TGE was banned from an earlier volume for self-promotion, and Tim’s exit coincided with the above-mentioned incident.
I agree that personal insults are uncalled for and totally unnecessary. They devalue the thread and diminish any point people are trying to make, but it’s important that people be free to voice their opinions, and criticism is a part of that. This thread was originally titled: Are these Vloggers just a scam? SOL or Shmee etc?
It’s also important that those mentioned have the right to reply. And it’s good to see that some of them still participate. We also know that others continue to follow the thread. Why would they do that if it was all bad?
I can understand why some might not want to participate. This is not like appearing on a friendly podcast.
If people find something offensive, report it, but I wouldn’t cancel the thread because of the comments by a minority of people. Maybe that’s the way forward.
There’s a common refrain here: if you don’t like something, don’t watch it. I find that simplistic for a number of reasons, but you could say the same about following this thread. And yet, this thread is probably one of the longest on here.
I’ve found many recommendations by following this thread. It’s also provided a good insight into the industry, both from the YouTubers who do participate and the comments of others.

The JWW Valkyrie delivery video today - I'm a bit confused - it's the same car he filmed the handover of in April 2023 complete with number plates - yet today it's being 'delivered' - where's it been for the past year?
Matching DBS & Valkyrie together, is what I think JWW is referring to as ‘delivered’.Edited by Horsey McHorseface on Saturday 20th April 00:26

Does it really matter ?Either watch it or don't watch it if it's not your thing.

Exactly this. It’s just a guy showing off a car, if you’re interested in the car then watch it, if not find something that does interest you. Why does anyone need to know where the car in question has been for the last year or so? Either watch it or don't watch it if it's not your thing.
Enjoyed Jayemm's latest DBS video.
I resonated with it as I like the idea of spotting diamonds in the rough.
Mid-way through the video my guess was that it had been used as one of those supercar experience cars which would explain the need for new brakes and diff, but also to keep a spare diff until the other one completely blows.
Would also explain the weird damages like the steering column handle as the wheel probably got adjusted 8 times per day. Just a hunch.
