What a surprise that that Martin bloke from Scotland was handling stolen goods.

Feel a little sorry for Rory but that VIN stamping had been done by a blind ape and it looks nothing like a 2012 bike so he can't say the signs were not there.

Back in the day pistonheads was the UK automotive news site, and the forums had quite the reach / influence with lively friendly discussions.

I meant in terms of regular posters on this particular thread.

Does anyone watch Mark McCann? His latest video is scary. Threats to family etc etc and something I guess all YTers should be aware of when posting their house etc on vids.

I used to hate MM but I’ve grown to love his videos.

I can't imagine any Youtuber likes this thread based on the nonsense that gets posted and doxing of personal information.
I'll shed a tear for them.

Put yourself out in the public domain and then expect people not to talk about them and their content?

Alright then, sounds a lot like cake and eating it.
They love us discussing their content. The issue for me is:

“I found the address for the Shmuseum”
“I looked on companies house and he made X profit”
“His missus works at X”

Etc…

His latest videos about the scammers are very eye opening.

While it's probably some spotty teenage keyboard warrior you would still have some form of doubt in the back of your mind when your family is involved.

Yep. It was interesting to hear how the business arrangement between the guys works.

I knew, as I'm sure most did that Alex didn't own Car Throttle or have any say, he was just an employee and the "face" of most of the videos. Then he left to start his own channel, AutoAlex.

I didn't know that Top Dead Centre (Edwin and Will) and All The Gear (Jack and Ethan) were funded/part owned by Alex, albeit with far more freedom and ownership for the channel teams than they had in the CT days. I thought it was CT just going down the toilet so the guys independently left. Makes sense that they'd share resources/hang around together as they were mates for years, but didn't know there's a much closer business arrangement.

I thought CarThrottle was really good after Alex left (he's not my cup of tea) with Jack, Ethan and Edwin. Hopefully they all do well. I can see a space for all, AA can do most of the dicking around with cars content, TDC the "serious" rebuilds/technical stuff, ATG a bit more travelogue/alternative content. Think the latter will have a bit more of a struggle, given that the old audience may not be as natural a fit. It's a bit further away from the good bits of CT than we know and love. But I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it.
What I suspect will happen is 3 channels all doing the same ideas, TDC just feels like AA V3 already.

Fair play to him for doing it but I cannot see the view count staying high, people will soon pick and chose.
Why the videos are like 20 minutes ?

They did. But the bike was cloned. Ie the plate and vin matched another (legit) bike.

Kind of a bad ad for CV then.

The one time they actually use it for something it fails them confused

lol yeah it is quite funny that it let them down but goes to show how there’s a total problem with our system in the UK. I mean he even got posted a new V5! Surely the owner of the proper (legit) bike with that plate got a letter from DVLA saying ‘thanks for telling us you’ve sold it’?? I always do when I send off a V5 after selling.

That alongside Mat A continually showing that cars are crashed every day and won't appear on CV makes a mockery of the whole thing.

STG said he likes to occasionally post ‘grenades’ on this thread under a pseudonym.

And that PH was akin to AIDS or something to that effect.

Happy to be corrected but I am sure it showed as a cat c at that point Rory should have walked.

It was interesting that tonight's video was sponsored by someone else.

Oh yeah, good point.

I wonder if the VIN they used if from a crashed bike that no one owns. Hence the Cat C

Yes but that brought up the cloned bikes details. A perfect advert for not relying on CV.

Seems likely.

I want a follow up where they drive back up to Scotland to ask Martin for their money back.

I wonder if they contemplated that. As what they’ve done is drop him right in the st lol

I know the police won't bother as it is too much like hard work, but surely he could be investigated for handling stolen goods?
