Tony on BTG comes across well with Sam they make a great double act.IMO. Always liked Sam over the years but l worry about his direction I feel he purchased the RS6 YT car of choice dropping £100k and complained about MPG (perhaps hanging around with SOL too much)! It will be interesting to see what his new incoming cars are though.

Re finance I do actually get Tony’s point back in the day when I was a Powerful CD i remember looking at finance to purchase an M3 as to take dividends out of my company I would have took a massive fiscal hit with the taxman. Even now when I am a more modest earning wage slave taking finance to avoid earning the 40% thresholds putting salary /bonus/profit into say tax efficient pension wrappers and taking finance does work. Sort of! I am doomed I guess recommending Tony Gravelwood for financial advice.

Some praise for Tony followed by - erm, what are you talking about.

In this weeks BTG podcast - he spends ten minutes explaining why 6/7% finance is cheaper than paying cash.......

Apparently to pay 20k cash for a car you'll have to pay 25% tax on what you earned (this is broadly true earn 26/27k to end up with 20k in your pocket) so the 3/4k interest you'll pay on the 6% loan "saves" you money.

Obviously completely ignoring the fact that you have to pay tax on the money you earn to pay off the loan - so you actually pay the 25% tax and the 7% finance making it much worse........

As a used car dealer selling finance if he believes this - it's scary, and if he doesn't and it's a ploy to get people to sign up for finance then that's probably worse!!

The days of a dealer setting the APR is a thing of the past, its a similar system to a bank loan now. You have a headline rate, ours is 4.9%, but you put the application in and the lender decides the rate based on your score.

Every loan has an APR. It has little to do with the base rate.

Anyone signed up to DMO's London to Saint-Tropez event in June? Only £4k for 1 car and 2 people, and you even get a sticker pack!

I've never been one for watching The Stradman, but I do listen to Vinwiki.

Ed Bolian and two high end motor dealers are appraising his 15 car collection - https://youtu.be/FDQ1A8La84g

I didn't realise it was so extensive, he rarely gets mentioned in this thread, but he seems to have made some very good investments with his fleet of Lamborghinis.
Got to admit that I am really struggling to get into the Stradman content - his presentation style is way too fast and hyperactive, and the constant camera movement is not easy to watch. I have a feeling that this is why I wasn't a sub before now.

No, unfortunately I don't have a get out of jail free "card" that enables me to get away with speeding and driving like an absolute tool despite continually posting evidence of myself doing this on YouTube.

Or a silly man bag.

Yep, check out some of his 'ring laps also.

But of course this is an anti Shmee thread so noone will agree

Didn't some tool on here also claim he wasn't a Petrolhead also?

JayEmm if you’re reading this I loved the Bristol Fighter video. Reminds me of how I originally discovered your channel after stumbling on your video of the Venturi a couple of years ago. Just love the uniqueness and eccentricity of cars like these. The world needs more cars like the Fighter. Those anecdotes at the end were priceless. You couldn’t believe you were driving one I couldn’t believe it either lol

I got invited to that event and was very tempted to take them up on it, as I'd love to do the hillclimb.

However I am teetotal, and I don't think I'm really a Gumball person - so it felt a little bit disingenuous to go.

Did go to SMMT though and had a good natter with Bad Obsession, they're lovely guys in person.
Go along to the Retro Rides event Jay. I loved taking my old E30 up the hill whenever I went there, although I never did an actual speed event at Shelsey.

ETA - I see RetroPowerCars released a couple of videos about the E30 M3's by Redux. £330K + the donor car! laugh

Thanks chap

When the email came through I couldn't believe it either! Proper unicorn car and I also thought it was akin to the Venturi in terms of rarity.

I had a good chat with the guys there and Bristol customers are as oddball as you might expect

Anyone with any sense would agree. He's more handy than the vast majority of trackday drivers but likely only mid-pack/to upper mid in a race series (depending which it was).

Totally agree mate. If there’s a car that sums up the channel it’s the Bristol. A little bit of history and an honest opinion! But also just a great mix of cars that some people wouldn’t touch/have even heard of.

I can sort of agree with the Petrolhead quote I mean in one of his videos he completely blanks a Miura in a garage walkthrough to lust over some Merc. Sums him up really.

That Bristol was absolutely glorious. A friend used to have a Bristol (model escapes me now) which had rather challenging looks, but you could hear the rumble of the V8 from streets away.
