Yep, check out some of his 'ring laps also.

But of course this is an anti Shmee thread so noone will agree

Didn't some tool on here also claim he wasn't a Petrolhead also?
I can sort of agree with the Petrolhead quote I mean in one of his videos he completely blanks a Miura in a garage walkthrough to lust over some Merc. Sums him up really.
Or maybe it's just a case of different people liking different things?
But to not even acknowledge the car in the garage the was doing a walkthrough of? An Aston or Ferrari eg. Db7 or 360. Fair enough but it’s a Miura. Whether you like it or not it’s a Miura enough said.

The funny thing about the Bristol is it's a car I likely only know about through sites like Pistonheads. Feels like things coming weirdly full circle with my video of one being discussed here now.

As a general rule, there arent many cars I just say no to - but there are some I will automatically say yes to and the Fighter was one. Also very lucky to have a road where I could stretch it's legs, my only regret of the XJ220 review.

But in the Gumball Video at Shelsy Walsh he made a beeline for a Muira and said it was on of his cars of the show…

I do think that Tim does play up to the Shmee character in many of his main videos and will cherry pick out the ones his Audience want to see. Whereas on the museum channel you get a more authentic view of his opinion. At the end of the day though. He’s just a car guy who makes videos for his audience that’ll drive traffic to fund his collection of YouTube cars.

Damn it almost sound like I am white knighting Shmee. But do think at times he gets the rough end of the stick, for just making videos for people to watch for free in the internet.

His ring laps are mega, he's a very good driver, though I just flicked through the AMG video and he seemed to be well inside the grip of the car?

He mentioned that ABS, traction control were fixed as it was a type of customer experience day, but after his first sighting lap, despite him saying that he was still getting the feel for it, he still certainly was pedalling better than many of us.

130 odd laps of the ring under his belt, which must help, but it's still a very variable track, and it's not like it's 130 laps in the same car either.

With Shmee stop to appreciate that all the laps I have seen him do at the ring have been on TF. I have not done a TF lap for 5 or 6 years since I started having relatively fruity daily drivers so the sort of cars he is slinging round fair play. Bear in mind there is no insurance you can get for TF so massive cahoonas! To be honest the longer Tim has been doing what he's doing the more I respect him. There are far worse people out there and for all the stick he gets on here I don't think anyone would ever actually say he was anything other than a nice chap. I'm over at the ring in the summer I hope he is there to say "hi guys"!

@jayemm - any updates on the Celica coming soon or is it on the backburner for now? Just finished binge watching the current episodes and want some more.

So, I am filming a "fleet update" video today, but as you asked nicely:

Celica was taken to MK Auto last year, they seem to be regarded as "the" Celica people. It was a two part affair, find the faults with the car and fix them - plus do some of the upgrades I had planned. As they are 200 odd miles from me I wanted to get everything done in one hit so when it returns I can just enjoy it.

The turbo was on its way out, as expected - so was the gearbox. Both of those have been replaced with refurbished ones. A bunch of suspension components were replaced. I must confess I had a chuckle when he called me and said "you need a new suspension arm and they're really expensive". About £300 was the cost and I think Italians have melted my brain because I thought crikey that's cheap!

Annoyingly there was a little corrosion found the body shop missed but easily tended to. we are also putting a cat back on the car (I hate decats). A new ECU has been fitted also, and it is currently awaiting remapping. I never wanted big power from it, the car always felt healthy anyway. Around 300 or so is the aim.

We are just awaiting mapping now which has been delayed as the chap has some personal issues he is dealing with

Anyone with any sense would agree. He's more handy than the vast majority of trackday drivers but likely only mid-pack/to upper mid in a race series (depending which it was).
Not taking anything away from the chap but there's a huge difference between putting in a quick track day lap and fast race lap and/or racing. That's not to say he could be adept at learning race craft based on his current ability. He's also been fortunate enough to have some great tuition which can count for a lot. As I say though, that's not to take anything away from him.

Just listening to the Seen Through Glass Under £20k podcast, can anyone enlighten me as to how Tony thinks you don't pay tax when financing a car given you need to earn money to pay the finance and you'll pay tax on that income before you pay the finance?

Wtf?!

Covered above/previous pages - he's a used car dealer, so there is some leeway needed to be given to pretty much anything he says, and doubly so when it relates to money/finance.

I'd do the same, miura are probably unicorn to some petrol heads, for me, not interested personally

To suggest someone isn't a petrol head because they have an opinion is ridiculous

Why hasn’t he bought one then? It’s just a business to him. I’m sorry I just find it false. If proton paid him to say a Persona was the best car he’s ever driven he’d say it.

Sorry are you a presenter of a YouTube channel about cars? His channel is literally about cars to ignoring it defeats the object of his channel.

A Model T does literally nothing for me but you have to appreciate its contribution same as the Miura.

My point is regardless of opinions or even is opinion on cars as I’ve stated above it’s just a business to him he doesn’t buy a car because HE wants it. He buys it because it makes financial sense.

He’s part of the wider problem if Porsche gave him a car is he going to say it’s a terrible car nope because Porsche won’t give him another free car to drive for a bit. I just want a genuine opinion.

On the free thing why watch rct. there’s only a few channels I watch (Harry’s,DW,Tyrell’s,Frank Stephenson,LBS and jay)the only reason I know what shmee even does is people posting it on this thread.

Maybe he doesn’t want one yet. Maybe he doesn’t have any use for one. Maybe it won’t be as popular on his channel as you think it will be. Maybe his money is best invested elsewhere.

Lmao you what

So because he has a Youtube channel he cant have a personal opinion on cars and choose what he does and doesn't film? Get a grip

How do you know he doesn't appreciate the Miura, has he ever said that or are you jumping to a conclusion based on not much fact at all other than he once panned past one on a video once.

Couple of points worth mentioning here.

1. I have lost count of the number of times I have totally forgotten to mention something important/noteworthy in a video. I am terrible for it. Every time you hear a voiceover from me that's a mistake being corrected after the fact.

2. There is a common misconception about YouTubers saying only nice things for fear of not getting another press car. For some strange reason nobody applies the same to magazine journos when even the likes of Harry have said how many times they got raked over the coals by certain manufacturers upset they did not get a five star rating (Eg. Aston DB9).

Porsche in particular I can assure you are quite thick skinned - look at the review I did of the 911 C2 and the Cayman 4.0. I still have a laugh and a joke with them and get cars. Same with Audi, I have given a couple of their cars a right drubbing and gotten more.

Only one manufacturer ever had a proper go at me, and by proper I mean threatening to go legal type thing. The funny thing is I have never actually even had a press car from them! (And it wasnt McLaren)
